I doubt it even competes with the C43/S4/M340i.
It would be the only car I'd own out of warranty, with those other three you better have deep pockets.

What’s so exciting about this car? It is essentially a 13-year-old platform, with a bunch of recycled parts, and some updates. In terms of performance, N/A V8 RWD in Calgary, I doubt it even competes with the C43/S4/M340i.
I think its a pretty sweet car all in all. Yea it will suck in Calgary, Colorado... other high elevation places. But it's nice to see the Japanese still doing a bit of performance oriented stuff to compete with ze germans. Plus... 500 hp v8 or a 540 hp I4? I know which one sounds better to me.

You're minimizing the important part - "some updates" is actually a huge difference if you compare it to an IS F, and the reason they're recycling the parts (i.e. drivetrain) is because that's the best part of the car, and continues to hold up against competition.

I'd take the lexus 8 days a week over those cars. N/A V8 is a big part of that choice; regardless of whether it's quicker than those cars at our elevation, it's certainly quick enough to be fun and makes a great noise.

There's a high likelihood in a few more years I'll either buy a used one of these or a GS F if I can find one that's not crack money.

Well W206 has been downsized to 2L 4. Can't wait for BMW and Audi to follow and loses the 6s.

All of them can potentially noise neutered and uses fake speaker noises.

TLDR, those 3 cars are all turning into Beyond Meat and Lexus just gave us a juicy steak.

Fair enough. The V8 is going to sound amazing no doubt, and it’s going to be a reliable car, I’ll give it that.

Still I don’t see how it “competes”. The 470hp RC-F does a 12.7 ¼, while a “382hp” m340i does a 12.2 lol. Add in some real-world adverse weather conditions and our elevation, the performance is not even close. To me the 6s sound good too.

Isn’t performance one of the main reasons you buy this car, I mean its called F Sport “Performance”.

    W206 is certainly disappointing.

Depends on a persons definition of performance. To me, performance =/= acceleration. Driving dynamics, and the general experience are way more important than .5s diff in the 1/4 IMO. That's part of the reason the LC500, despite being a slow boat with a 15 year old powertrain (compared to other GT cars), is pretty well universally regarded as a fantastic car.

But this car if you are going to enjoy it for 15 years.
Don't buy this car if you're shakalaka.

I'm surprised how many people are "excited" about this... take a 15 year old tech and put it in a model car? no thanks. Give me hybrid torque filled tech with a turbo engine any day of the week. Cept for the sound, that I cant argue against/

I am fully supportive of more options in the 500Hp sedan market segment, regardless of whether I would ever consider buying this particular one.

    500HP V8 helps
Yeah but you get a 460 hp V8 in a Mustang GT these days. It will sound great but it will probably get walked by an M340i.

It would definitely get walked by a M340i at our elevation.

edit: lol@ mustang GT comparison. Fords/mustangs are utter garbage interior-wise compared to new Lexus' (Lexii?).

Forums or communities with anonymous comment/member rankings is on par with Reddit levels of stupidity. I wouldn’t get bend outta shape over it.

Maybe. Unless you're trying to find a GS F in which case I think we're enemies? Idk.
