Is this a similar situation to “if it makes Notley mad it was probably the right decision”

It's more a choice of who do you want Canada to be closer allies with, America or China

    Whoever pays.

It's still unclear which boat is the clear winner.

After the Suez BS last couple of weeks. You are damn sure someone is trying to secure that shipping lane when global warming melts everything.

It worked for South China sea. It worked for Crimea. Why not artic too.

I look forward to Russia plowing through Alberta to get to the US, and half of Beyond being ok with it because we're finally not part of Canada anymore.

So either we become Russian or American?

I could live with either outcome these days.

Tom Clancy (or more specifically one of the many writers in the franchise) called that in Endgame.

Fun read. Not a great book. But worth the read.

Verdict in trial of Tong Ying-kit coming soon. First court case of the sweeping new security laws in HK.
    https://www.cbc.ca/news/world/hong-k...rial-1.6109301

My personal guess is a very soft official sentence, potentially just time served, and the guy disappears before Christmas.

It doesn't matter. It'll be a shot in the bow to make sure people to behave like CCP wants them to. Anti-CCP extremism is slowly taking place, a dude stabbed a cop last month before killing himself. I'll be surprised if he get a light sentence.

What doesn't hit the international news is that this month, a lot of teachers are either fired or contract not renewed for not towing the CCP line.
CCP will get their own teachers to educate/indoctrinate the kids in HK. They now consider most of the 16-50 generation that remains are gone.
