I've owned far too many Ford 5.4L engines. Never had major issues, but always felt like I was about to. Didn't like the power either. Never again.

You realize you are talking to the guy who made his own furniture out of salad bowls right?

Even with the cam phaser & spark plug issues, the 3v 5.4 clearly works - the 2v was in a number of cube vans right up until I think E350s switched to transits.

I think its like the 6.0 Chevy motor - bulletproof but lacks performance

I've never seen one! I've seen a reasonable number of gas Titans and XD in gas, but zero diesels.
    It's weird.
Yup, somehow expected with the cummins logo they'd be more popular... Ran across 4-5 while towing, so I know they're out there.

But by ear and visually - they didn't scream diesel truck either - so maybe we're just not noticing them.

It was better than it's reputation. But hoo boy, I never loved that engine the four times I owned one.

The 5L Cummins is a dog, but better than the 3L Ecodiesel.

Their choice to use Cummins in these trucks was a nail in the coffin before launch.
The people who want Cummins already knew where to go. Zero of those people were Nissan people or possible converters in either direction.
    So. Dumb.
