What's with the laminate thing? i have never heard you cant laminate your AHC, your birth Cert yes, says right on it that you cant laminate, but never seen that on AHC. Mine's been laminated for ever and never had an issue... they just tell you to do your donor stuff on the back before you do laminate it.


EDIT: there are even registries that offer to laminate it as a service. i think some people here are mistaken

Yeah, my birth cert is laminated, I think straight from the AB government. They aren't laminated now? But I'm old and don't have kids so I guess what do I care!!

yeah birth certa are made of ploymer now, and they dont have wallet size ones anymore because they dont want people to carry it in their wallet, you can only get like 5x7 or 8x10

When you get married you don't keep your original health care number. They combine you and your spouse under one account and send you new cards.

I couldn't tell you if this is a new thing in the last 3 years since I got married, or if AHS is just trolling me.

That is crazy, wife and I got married in 2008, at that time we kept our original health care numbers.

WTF.

I brought this up to my wife that I thought it was crazy and I wondered why no one said anything when we got married or had kids. Apparently she knew about it and I guess I had to sign something to approve it when she was doing all the paperwork to change her name. Joke's on me for not paying attention I guess . I bet most of our wives probably took care of this without us knowing (or remembering).

I also just checked our cards and neither of our numbers changed, she said that are accounts are just linked. My health number is the same since I was born and her number with her new last name is the same as her old card with her maiden name.
