The nerd in me really wants to know what caused this outage

I got chatting to one of the site operators today about wtf would happen if the outage had affected remotely run power plants...tomorrow I'll need to ask the engineer, because fuck really knows

Could also have been overload from Steam summer. There is always a huge long download spike off their twice yearly sales.

PUBG does not download overnight for most internet connections.

Someone simply fat-fingered a BGP entry? Possible sure, but what triggered someone to even touch those settings? Upgrade? Nah, I'd say unusual amount of traffic.

Twitch even managed to mess up a few hundred thousand person videostream of Genshin 2.7

Sorry. Your video game, while maybe popular, did NOT take down a carrier nationwide.

I dunno. Those are downloads only stats too (low priority). The far more important stats are the ones attached to services that require ms updates connecting 64 or more into one virtual server. A single Genshin update every two months takes a solid 10GB, 10GB being more data in banking transcations that 100 people will do in a lifetime.

Singular games nowadays are arguably of significantly greater artistic and monetary value than the Mona Lisa (only what? $400 million?), if raw dollars are used as voting power. European traditionalism is quickly becoming a thing of the past.

Of course if its simply a really badly coded Ericsson update, then my first assumption would be correct: Should have used Huawei.

Lol. A BGP fuckup with proof from Cloudflare and still comes with wild theories.

All I know was drive thrus were slow when they have to announce to everyone cash only last weekend.

I'm seeing a trend that generation after generation of workers are no longer giving a shit. Even Shaw isn't what it used to be as GenXers are retiring/quitting.
