Still a ricer. But I can appreciate a slightly softer suspension setup these days.

No way would I ever want to drive a modified car every day. FML. So I guess thats changed.

I just remembered how much I used to love the VW Cabriolet, Civic Del Sol and Mazda Miata.
Now I don't love those and I've found my ass feels way better.
    I wonder what that's about...

Something to do with the stiff ride.

I’ve kinda already mentally committed myself to a Macan GTS or Turbo for my next car.
Nothing wrong with either of those. Small enough that it still drives like a car, low, yet high enough to see above the cars in front of you and plenty of speed/torque! If I didn't need the car seats and trunk space for travel I'd go down to a Macan.

Only thing I think is I have next to no desire for a new vehicle. There's too many gadgets and dials and switches and levers on new cars that I either don't want or don't know how to use.

I guess I’m just happy I’m not into EVs yet. If that ever happens, it’s a good sign that I should file for divorce and start a Grindr account.

90s GM vehicles meet probably 90-95% of my current vehicular hopes and dreams, including a Suburban.

I think a lot of it has to do with how good a lot of modern (last decade or so anyway) "sporty" daily driver type cars have become. The amount of things that you have to upgrade on most 80's - early 2000's budget performance cars to make them decent gets kind of old fast. tiny single piston front brakes, mushy suspension etc etc. It's not just the money, it's also the aggravation and time plus dealing with a lot of aftermarket stuff that comes with compromise vs a well sorted factory car. Guess that's why this hobby is predominantly for teenagers

I know its not the same car.. but I just adore my Cayenne Diesel. For me, the perfect car in that it gives me all of the practicality but still feels 'special". Of course, fairly comfortable, but the steering, braking and suspension and overall driving experience is just so great. I love the old school nature of certain things, buttons for everything (no smudgy touch panels).

I hate how Porsche does standard options and their maintenance through the dealer, but man... I am converted.

I realized though after owning the TLX, it what makes me happy is not necessarily performance or looks etc. but more so having something "special". Something that is unique, not meant for everyone where you feel good being in it. Could be an old Lexus/Mercedes or a Honda Prelude, or a Cobalt SS Supercharged.

I think that resonates with a lot of people, myself included. Everyone wants something which satisfies their personal value equation and feels "right" for them. By nature of us being on this forum, we have a greater than minimal interest in cars and that's where that "special" factor and fondness comes into play.
Growing up I despised wagons and hatchbacks, but my previous and current vehicle are wagons and I don't really have an interest in owning any other body style; part of that is definitely the "special" feeling they provide to me, since you don't see too many of them around.
