If we can't laugh at a tragedy, then what are we even alive for?

I wanted to do something about a new update from 11-foot-eight.com, but i just couldn't figure it out. I swear that's funny.

I did a pneumatic testing nerd calc for ABSA once for very high pressure and large volume. It ended up being about 60 pounds of TNT equivalent and the exclusion zone was something like 55 meters.
Just horrifying! I'm surprised they accepted it. Shit would've blown to orbit, it seemed like.
Refrigeration related? I perform tests like this several times a year. Next one is just off the yyc runway boundary, should be interesting.

No, it was Hydrogen production. Ptest at something like 650psi.

I will be going to 1920 psi pneumatic test on my piping and fan coils. Pretty sure ABSA thinks we are insane.

Yes, but pneumatic? Certainly not done this way often on something warehouse sized.

And here I thought all the enginerds here knew what a stored energy calculation was. High pressure pneumatic testing is like using a cheap strut spring compressor on a truck spring, while naked in a bath tub and covered in vasoline.

It was a ship joke. Maybe it was a bridge too far.

Does 10,000 - 12,000 psi with nitrogen count as pneumatic? My first week working in the field I got to see what nitrogen does to 900m of 2-3/8 steel tubing when you lose control of the tubing.

Anyone remember pumping CO2 back in the day? I got to tie paper towel to every single connection because you would pressure test with methanol and you would detect a leak of your paper towel was wet or on fire.

I wasn't in the field, but gelled propane was the best.

If we start building barriers for bridges because we're worried about ships running into them, we've lowered ourselves beyond caution labels for not eating batteries.
