Theory is that the wind was too strong, too strong because of climate change of course.

At this rate, they could probably go back to sails.

No doubt. If I didn't push that highschool chick who I knocked up down the stairs, I'd have a kid that would be...
    Whoa. Nevermind.
I remember as a kid driving through downtown Vancouver. We had to stop the car abruptly in front of one of the fancy hotels because a bride was jaywalking in front of us. A bride that appeared to be about 8 months pregnant. Maternity wedding dress and all.

My dad opened the car window and leaned out and yelled: "careful sweetheart, you can get knocked DOWN too."

    - stern/rudder was stuck too, although they got it out
    - with the SCA pilot, 'human error' apparently was a bigger factor that originally mentioned
    - ship drew, what appeared to be genitalia on its gps tracker (how does a ship of this size maneuver like this?)
    - bow thrusters were available, but never used
    - the soil is hard clay, and has essentially suctioned the bow
    - the tides form to 'push' the ship into the side further, with each passing one
    - had the ship veered into the other side of the canal, there would have been more damage, but not likely stuck

Yeah I imagine the bow in that silty bank is akin to losing a gumboot suctioned into deep mud.

The boat is fully moving again and not at all stuck. Will be at the wide part where other ships can pass freely within a few hours.

Wonder if this will increase the importance of the Russian route for cargoes from China to Europe?

I for one would assume they would be Russian to build it now.

Willy has been freed! Moving 8 knots.

Now bring me my global shortage - overpriced PS5, videocard and refrigerator already.

That's the design of BRI and port that leaves XingJiang and thru the 'stans. Russia was never in the card due to they are more frenemies than friends nor is that the shortest route.

But most businesses won't touch that port with a 10ft pole. Especially now.
