Default Garden irrigation set-ups with IBC totes?

So folks, just out of curiosity, who's using IBC totes to collect rainwater for irrigation purposes in the city?

Are the fittings to work standard pipe thread? Would like to set up a gravity feed irrigation system and adapt the IBC tote outlet valve to fit on a garden hose? Alternatively, thinking of setting up a water misting system based on a timer using a gravity feed instead of a pump.

I think a mister will require more pressure than most gravity-feed systems can provide.

Lee valley has low flow irrigation parts. Not the cheapest source, but they make it easy.

You realize you are talking to the guy who made his own furniture out of salad bowls right?

Thanks ExtraSlow, yeah the misting irrigation will definitely take more pressure. I don't think I could elevate the tote high enough off the ground safely to create enough pressure through potential energy to get the misting system to be effective.

Most of the IBC's I have seen are a male 2" ish camlock fitting. shouldn't be to hard to find the parts at princess auto to step that down to 3/4" for a garden hose.

    Thanks for the info guys.

Curious what people are using to elevate IBC totes? Looking to create a gravity feed irrigation storage system and want to make sure it's going to be sturdy enough to bring the tote to height. Was thinking of using cinderblocks.

I think most people just buy real estate with a hill.

    Cinder locks would be best.
I tried wood pallets once and totally filled, I ended up collapsing the pallets.

I gave up on the setup because no pressure and algae kept growing and plugging the outlet.

Thought about a small pump to feed the water. That would work and you'd still be saving because water is expensive.

@mr2mike - Yeah, thinking cinderblocks as well. I have a metal pallet I was going to set the entire IBC tote w/cage onto. To combat the algae issue, going to use a tarp to cover the tote except for the hole for the water to go in.

There should be a tax on collecting rainwater.

Maybe she can quietly amend to add it.
