    Default SiriusXM Class Action Settlement

Did anyone else get this in their email? Reading through the settlement text, it sounds like class members don't get anything?

I haven't seen anything yet. Seems like most class actions just end up making lawyers rich and participants are lucky to get a cheque for $1.00. I doubt its worth the time.

On my last car Sirius never ended up cancelling my services after the 3 month trial and I still never used it haha. Quality was roughly equivalent to AM radio as far as I could tell anyway.

Apparently it's a deactivation signal that gets sent to your Radio ID. If you don't start your car in X hours, the signal expires and the radio doesn't know it's cancelled.
Not sure if this is still the case today.

Do they still phone people daily once the free trial expires? That was freaking annoying.

Yes they do, or if you cancel your paid service as well. I had XM since about 2017 and loved it personally (mostly for Shade45 and the hosts, funny shit), but I never paid full price for it, always under $8 a month or something. I finally canceled last year since I am work from home always now so made no sense. These guys call me daily, super annoying.

What's the basis for the claim? I mean, what did they do that was bad?

Turned out "lifetime" didn't mean your lifetime, it meant the lifetime of the device you activated Sirius XM on.

That's top tier Ferengi level thinking right there.

    Where'd you see this?

    -----------------------------------------------------------------

Also, turns out someone got so pissed off by this class action that they created a website with an autofill form just to make it easy for people to opt out:

I googled it. Surely they don’t index incorrect information.

I think we are talking about 2 different lawsuits here. The one regarding the lifetime plan is different than the one OP posted.

That was always the case, and why I never got that plan. They didn't even hide it in fine print, people are just too dumb to read.

Their call center people are fucking relentless.

They were calling me every day, finally picked up and told them my car got wrecked and was in the shop indefinitely (which was true) and that I never wanted XM again. So then they pivoted to peddling a deal with a mini boom box (lol, radio) with XM radio on it.

Told them to never call me again.

But you also don't really have to do shit for it either.

    Sirius really is relentless.

When I bought my '14 GT500 the previous owner had a subscription; I never used it and just let it expire. Somehow the Sirius people tracked me down and now every week or two I get a mailing from them asking me to renew the subscription for all sorts of great deal pricing. I'm not even sure how they got my contact information???

Your registration, through the manufacturer, same way find the current owner of vehicles needing recalls.

    No.

It is synced via a feed in DMS each 24hrs, all sold retail data goes to SiriusXM to activate trials easily etc.

They also use this to harass the crap out of you.
