Fuel economy is the only thing a smaller “pickup” could be better at than a full size.

There isn’t another compelling reason to get what is essentially an SUV with a box.
I suppose if your taste in vehicles is electric skateboards built in a tent, then fuel economy dominates your buying choices. But I think utes provide a number of advantages over full size trucks. I've had full size trucks and hated having them.

I guess you’ve never met 99% of Asian people. Us Asians don’t like to pay for gas.
    @rage2 is the exception.
I guess I'm happy that I'm not saddled with cultural baggage that makes me care about minor differences in running costs. Or how many 8's there are in a row.

    Milk gives me diarrhea.
Size and weight. I fucking hate daily driving a 5500lbs vehicle that doesn't fit in my garage. A 4400lbs vehicle that does fit in my garage is much more suitable to my needs.

Huh, I kinda like this thing. Would never touch one brand new because I’m cheap, but the concept of small trucks with beds for wood and appliances makes sense. I’d much prefer something like a modern El Camino SS1LE over a Camaro for practicality.

You kidding? Half his posts since getting the e53 have been about never Needing to get gas anymore.
Ya but it’s not about paying. Just one less frequent errand. Has it’s disadvantages. Less car washes, dirtier car now. I’m not even Asian enough to whine about paying full price for a car wash because I didn’t need gas.

It has to have at least 400hp to be able to pass comfortably driving in BC...

    Just ask @rage2
With the twinning project closing down tc1 for the next 2 months, pretty soon you won’t need 400hp. Can step it down to 350hp and pass safely on 2 lanes.

Me neither. I always wonder what kinds of vehicles people are driving that makes them care because I can't imagine very many buyers are prioritizing fuel economy when purchasing a $60K vehicle or whatever.
My old Trailblazer SS was 6500/year for gas. I had the window sticker from when it was new, it was a $61,000 vehicle. Are you telling me you wouldn't concern yourself with a 10% annual running cost when purchasing a vehicle? Seems to me like that is a big factor.

You should determine running costs on a $/km basis, not a gross basis if you're comparing between vehicles.

no insult at all. People should buy the vehicle that fits their needs. That goes for trucks to supercars.

I don't really do veiled insults. Only unveiled.

I really need a Honda Fit and a 1-ton. That'd probably fit my lifestyle best of all.

I specifically don't want any part of my lifestyle to require a 1-ton. Or a half ton.

Isn't that the new pickup truck we're discussing?

At this point in time i'm interested but will reserve final judgement till I can see one in person. I knew this was coming out, apparently VW has a 1/4 ton coming out too. I am due for a new rig in 1-2 years so i'll wait and see what ends up coming out.

I also saw a spy photo of an 1/8 ton? truck from Ford. The spy shot showed it much smaller then the Ranger.

I think if I buy another truck it will have an 8 foot box and no room for passengers.
