    Default Hyundai Santa Cruz

    Is there really an quasi-ute market in NA for Hyundai to try this?

    There should be a market for more utes. I just bought one.

    People are insecure though, and buy full size trucks.

    Full sized trucks for redneck husbands, quasi-utes for redneck wives.

    Or they think they need a full size truck to haul a sheet of plywood once every 2.5 years.

    There are a lot of people driving gigantic trucks that never see a payload or even a gravel road who would likely be better served by something like this or a Ridgeline. I actually really like this class of vehicle.

    Even this thing is limited in its usefulness. It only has a 4 foot box, so can't fit mtn bikes in lengthwise over the tailgate.

    Find me a new 400 hp ute for less than $40k please. Trucks have tremendous value compared to suvs.

    Fuel economy is the only thing a smaller “pickup” could be better at than a full size.

    There isn’t another compelling reason to get what is essentially an SUV with a box.

    Milk gives me diarrhea.

    Me neither. I always wonder what kinds of vehicles people are driving that makes them care because I can't imagine very many buyers are prioritizing fuel economy when purchasing a $60K vehicle or whatever.

    They drive a lot nicer on paved roads (at least many think they do), and you can buy one with "Japanese Reliability" which is often a selling point whether or not it's true. Are there full sized trucks with the cavernous under-bed storage? I always liked that idea but maybe everyone is doing it now.

    I guess you’ve never met 99% of Asian people. Us Asians don’t like to pay for gas.
    @rage2 is the exception.
