Greenbacks will outpace the loonie, sadly I think we are going back to the Canadian pesos
We're going to get smashed. Invest ex-Canada, nothing hedged.

I lived in Fort Collins, CO for 4 years. Loved every minute of it but it’s very much a college town.

If I were to go back to USA I’d probably live in Steamboat springs or mammoth lakes.
I came in here to say Fort Collins! I went to a training course for a week there and absolutely loved it, especially the Old Town district.

SD seems like it would be nice, but not sure I would ever live THAT close to the border.

I don't think South Dakota is nice at all......

But being close to the border should ensure inexpensive landscaping services...

Pretty sure you could be in Montana and still find inexpensive landscaping services

I feel like Atlanta is a worthy exception to Deep South. I enjoyed it quite a bit the few times I’ve been there. Lots going on, good travel hub, and good diversified economy.

This is when the many hours of watching House Hunters with my wife in the furtive hope of getting a blowjob comes in handy.

Anytime I've seen House Hunters, it's been in Atlanta and a perfectly decent looking house is like $55k so I assume it must be built on an Indian burial ground, flanked by a nuclear plant and a sulfur pile, on GangMurder Avenue.

Or, the more obvious answer, it’s in Atlanta.

There are a lot of places I would love to spend a weekend at which I have NO intention of living in.

Add Memphis or Nashville to the list, and maybe even Louisville. I believe there is some combination of no state income tax or sales tax in Kentucky/Tennessee. Sure property taxes might be higher to make up for it, but real estate can be found on the cheep just outside the major cities.

Friends of ours were featured on an ep of HH International a couple years ago (Calgary -> NZ), wonder what he got out of that

Austin, or even greater Houston area (e.g. Woodlands) assuming the commute wasn't bad.
San Diego area has always been nice, not sure what it'd be like to live and work there.
Hawaii would be great at or near retirement. And not with kids. They hate white people there. My parents have (white) neighbors there who have young kids, the mom is a teacher, and they're moving their family back to the mainland when the kids are school-aged.

With Starlink, any rural place in North America is more appealing now. I could even see myself doing mountain.
