    Default Large purchase from kijiji...

My wives grandparents are selling their rather larger 5th wheel for a rather large sum to a Kijiji-ite. I’ve never sold anything where it’s kinda just hard to do in cash (over 40k). What’s the best way to make sure they’re protected? I said to with the guy to the bank to get the bank draft rather then him show up with one

That's my preference. Meet the person at the bank and watch the teller make out the bank draft. Get there early so the person cannot be early and hand you the fake draft in the parking lot. You really need to see the teller making it out.

Yeah take the day off and go to the bank together. If it's that large a sum your time is worth it.

The buyer can phone their bank and ask them to allow a large one time transfer for a limited time.

i tried when i bought a truck, they told me they don't have any discretion on e-transfer limits. They might have been full of shit, just sharing my experience

Trust me, you can do one time large transfers at the bank.
How are you ever going to buy a home? ETransfer? Haha.
I've done across border this way too. Just takes longer to do but banks can verify money was sent just funds are held until proven not crime related.

You are talking about doing a wire transfer? Yea banks are capable of sending limitless money electronically. If they want to.

However in my experience they do not raise interac e transfer limits. Got in a shouting match with RBC over that one time, where I basically asked them how much more money I need to give them a month for them to raise my e transfer limit or if I needed to find another bank to do it for me.

They called my bluff and recommended I try another bank.

Thats wire, not e-transfer, E transfer uses interac which banks dont have much discretion on.

Wire, on the other hand, can be limitless

    ^^^ above is right.

E-transfer is through interac, your bank doesn't have the ability to raise your daily cap above 3k. But the bank can do other types of transfers between them.

Best bet is just go together and get a bank draft and then go to your bank and deposit it. 40k purchase, no reason you can't spend 60 minutes dealing with it.

You can e-transfer up to 40k on one transaction but need a business account

Wouldn’t surprise me if RBC couldn’t do it. I had so many bizarre problems with them I could see how they wouldn’t allow large etransfers.
