Colorworks in Airdrie does some "discount" work for high volume fleets before cars go to the Adessa auction.

Cheap option, and probably one I'd consider for this low-value car, is a rattle-can of "close enough" paint from the triangle store, sprayed onto some scrap cardboard, then brushed with a dollar store brush into the black areas. Bet from 10 feet away it looks fine.
I thought extraslow was already discredited on this topic of repairs... why is he still in this thread?

ExtraSlow is discredited in many areas. Not sure why anyone would listen to that guy.

I wasn’t discrediting him I just wanted that idea validated.

And because he’s a nice guy

Whats the make/model/year of the car? Pretty sure you can find a prepainted bumper online for way less than 2k. Is it the Forte?

Www.car-part.com. find a used bumper that's same color and swap it your self. Won't cost you much

+1 on needing a sticker. Someone scratched the side of our car and it was all going through the proper insurance channels, getting quotes, etc.

Shop couldn't proceed with the work unless I got a police sticker. The police report is thorough and they call the other party to verify the details, etc.

Probably to prevent people from fixing their hit-and-runs.

BTW, did you guys settle on $500 because the dude was happy with it or because he thought that's all it costs to fix his shit?

Its a pearl white forte5 SX from 2014 which that sparkly glitter paint mixed into it.

I guess theres one in Ponoka I emailed the guy about it to ask about the glitter paint. It was an option for the SX.

I feel lucky to have no experience with this but the entire thread is baffling me and I'm pretty sure me jimmies are almost rustled.
    *deep breath

Could someone please explain or link why the fuck I would need to waste a cop's time to get my car fixed?

Im guessing its something to do with the small amount of hit and runs where the cop needs to investigate the car.

I would imagine it's to avoid H&R'ers from getting their shit fixed without involving the cops, then that "xx car with damage to the right front" they're looking for, wouldn't exist because it was fixed.

Also a reported accident is almost always a rock solid excuse to give someone a ticket. $$$

It's not the size that matters, it's the taste it leaves in your mouth.

To be fair if the claim is going to be over $2,000 you shouldn’t be leaving the scene without calling the cops.

Ok. So the concept is I'm the bad guy who crashed into someone & fucked off and now I'm trying to get my shit fixed so that my red, '89 Corolla with the smashed fender doesn't get noticed when they mobilize the entire police force to search for the offender.
    I guess that makes sense.

And, what's the magic dollar amount threshold? And has that number been updated since 1989?
