Can @Buster pay extra to go to a store where there's a minimum annual income to gain entry? I'm thinking $175k or gtfo.
Now is that personal or household?

“Patronscan devices capture a person’s name, age and photograph from valid ID like a driver’s license,”

Not to mention your home address. That’s got to feel a bit creepy for women.

But IMO, not meant to be offensive, if you’re a female that has to pay for their own liquor do you really worry about being creeped on?

Love the reference, I was probably the only 25 year old watching AF.

The liquor store on Center St and 17ave NW/NE has EVERYTHING under lock and key, even the swill haha
That’s nothing compared to North Battleford where the mouthwash and rubbing alcohol is kept in locked cases

Most inner city pharmacies and grocery stores do this though. Before it closed, the downtown IGA in little old Lethbridge was the same - Scope and hairspray was kept at the tills and locked down, lol.

Bars & night clubs were already doing this 15 years ago... Lots of the big ones around Whyte in Edmonton used to scan my ID when I'd enter. I personally don't see a huge problem with it, but I'm pretty lax when it comes to stuff like this, IMO. I also wouldn't be shopping at any high risk liquor stores in sketchy places either for the obvious reasons.

My S-I-L has managed a liquor store for about 8 years. My wife has worked part time there as well for the last year. Yes this a good idea. Thefts are insane at the moment. Most addicts are very combative when deprived of their drug of choice. For the few seconds of your lives that it takes to scan into the store, it will hopefully make for a safer environment to work in.
