I went with Gienow for the entirety of my house. Triple pane, casement, built in trim (both interior and exterior), and tint on some of them depending on the facing. There is a fair amount of sleeze in the windows industry and I felt better dealing with a company that had their manufacturing in Calgary.

Of course all those u and R values go out the window (hawhaw) when the window is actually operable. The values are only for fixed windows, and the seals are the weak link if you can open them.
Nah, it's the glass that is always the weak link. Windows are made in the most obvious way you can think of: It's a frame and the glass sits in it. That's it. As long as the vinyl is in good repair you're losing all your heat through the glass.

strong recommendation for SIS. Quality product, quality install, and a rock solid warranty. I just had them do some warranty work for me five years after they did an install. Couldn't have been easier. Really happy to have done business with them.

North Star windows. We went vinyl, double glazed, LowE. Anything more on a drafty fifties bungalow would have been a waste.

Personally, I like them more than the fancy solid wood and metal brickmold lux window i installed on our south elevation. very easy-to-remove bug screen, nice casement function, and a fucking mile better than the shitty sliders that were in there previously.

I've heard that you can't get grilles in triple glazed windows like you can in double glazed. Can anyone confirm?

People saying they went with 'X' but they weren't the cheapest... So who was the cheapest? I have a sunroom window Id like to replace and it doesn't have to be a fancy high-insulated window, just a basic bitch. Who da cheapest?!

I think Ecoline was the cheapest of 5 quotes I got. I should ask the people down the street who got theirs replaced last week. They are fucking hideous, so probably the cheapest.

They're certainly big, but I don't know if they are the BEST I've tasted.

I have triple pane windows on west south west side and it is much quieter and no condensation at -30, regular two pane windows on north side and yes there is condensation at -30
