Default Pipelines Bad. Money Laundering Autos Good

Canada has a money laundering problem, and nowhere is it more apparent than in British Columbia. Though there are multiple scams being run to clean cash obtained through illegal activity, the world of high-end cars is a favourite.

why do you think the libs are introducing a luxury tax? If you have no hope of curtailing this bullshit, at least you can profit off of it.

I wonder if the same loophole as there is with BC's PST will apply for export?

I wonder if this is why Canadians pay so much for high end/exotic cars compared to our American friends. The secondary market is propped up by laundering.

NFT so much better. You can legitimately call it a foreign or local asset. If you buy something "real" you have a traceable bill of sale in the country where you bought it.

    Money laundering 101.

What if we laundered high end autos through a pipeline?

It's call snow washing, it's not limited to cars.

And you wonder why out of the money spilling out of HK, Canada seems to be the top destination.

It's basically keeping BC from falling into ruin, so it'll be around for a while.

Money laundering in a casino is so easy and virtually impossible to detect.

Well except for those people that exchange for a bunch of chips and then come back with 10% less.

Well.. Technically some ultra rich peeps use items to either gain or lose value. If it loses value, they publically declare it as a loss. If it gains value, they hide it.

But in all cases, I'd rather have a real good that gains value.

Evander Kane "lost" to the casino, and then declared bankruptcy. But did he really "lose" if the casino is more a bank than the banks.

BTW: If you are so rich that it just don't matter anymore, it tend to look like you are always losing, because that is what you pubically declare. To go to the casino with the intent to lose is definitely a thing.

Haha, I wonder what the ramifications are if your going to lose to shirt so you cash your cash in for chips then declare bankruptcy then cash those chips in...

Is this a thing? My knowledge of the criminal underworld comes from TV.

    From your article:
"The province appointed B.C. Supreme Court Justice Austin Cullen in 2019 to lead the public inquiry into money laundering..."

How does one side (the Crown government and Prosecutors) appoint the definition of a neutral party in the justice system (a Judge) to investigate on their behalf?
