@g-m - just be cognizant of which grade of scallops you're getting. Sushi/Sashimi grade will be more expensive regardless of size. City Fish offers both non-Sushi and sushi/sashimi grade. I generally go for the U10's or larger Sushi grade.

Thanks for the heads up. I got 3 bags of Japanese sushi grade and 2 bags of Canadian. The Japanese were a bit more expensive and a bit bigger, well worth it. I would've gotten more but that's all they had. $25/bag and I can eat them raw. Very satisfied thanks for all the help!

Wow those Japanese ones are big. Not even that expensive if that whole pack was $25

It is a good day when the fishmonger blesses a measly peasant such as myself.

I bought a couple lbs of costco fresh scallops one time, big ones. Was very disappointed with the lack of flavour. Seems like smaller bay scallops taste better.

    “Fresh” seafood is a fallacy

If it’s not alive. it’s been previously frozen.

There is also nothing wrong with that

It's shocking the number of people that don't know this. Same with their sushi.

You don't want seafood that has not been previously frozen. I used to eat fresh shrimp all the time, but I lived on the gulf coast, and would only cook the shrimp for dinner that came in in the afternoon boat.

The seafood is often frozen before it gets off the boat these days.

Aged fish is best fish, just like beef. Need to break down those connective tissues and let the enzymes do their thing
