City already budgeted to replace 77 vehicles in their fleet but now council asked (not city departments) to spend $21k more per vehicle because they want EVs to save the planet.
Of course they will also need $12M so they can charge these vehicles.
Oh and may as well add another $200k to study utilizing EVs for fleets. Wait, maybe they should have just done this step first? LOL.
Money well spent though, no more hailstorms for the NE and no more floods for Calgary.

Sounds like it'll be pretty easy to outrun the CPS in winter.

There’s also a hydrogen fuel cell vehicle study in there. They should just give me the money and I’ll let them no there’s no hydrogen infrastructure to cheaply support that yet lol. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote

Hydrogen pipelines! The only pipeline that is good. What could possibly go wrong?
I haven't followed this particularly closely, but I think they are really ammonia pipelines and the hydrogen is separated out at the endpoint. So not a hindenburg pipeline at least. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote

I'm involved with a couple of H2 projects and while it's true that ammonia "storage" is being explored, there are very real plans to pipeline pure hydrogen. They're even considering using abandoned lines in the current "hub" area outside of Fort Sask. (Dow and Scotford are major producers).
The City of Calgary has also agreed to attempt to add 5% hydrogen to the natural gas heating network to displace carbon.
Yep - those threaded connections leading to the hot water tank in your basement will soon be 95% CH4 and 5% the smallest fucking molecule on earth with one of the highest ranges between LEL and UEL. It'll go to those garage heaters where the homeowner didn't use a gas- fitter to run the piping, too.
It's a climate emergency.
Flex fuel sensors on homes soon?
I just want to pour my French fry oil into the pipeline so I can keep my hemp knitting commune warm.
TPIM, that's Neato. I like pipes, but I wasn't smart enough to worry about the composition of what went into them.

Tests indicate that existing home appliances are unaffected by 10% hydrogen and possibly even 15%. To quote Dale Gribble, "burn is burn" apparently. LoL!This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
Hydrogen embrittlement becomes a concern after that. And leaks...
If you want to be bad at science, fail to consider that the compression of a gas with a density of 16 g/mol is not the same as a gas with a density of 2 g/mol.
Back on topic, apparently Gondek is really mad that homeless people can't just sleep wherever they want.

Tent cities are all the rage in all the woke municipalities.
Thank christ it is too cold here for them to really stick.

We just need to funnel our tax dollars to high end cold-weather camping gear for the homeless. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote

Gondek: "I don't know what the answer is, but we can't just force them to move! its inhuman!"
Case studies for this type of thinking: See Vancouver, Victoria, Portland, Seattle, Etc Etc Etc...
As Killy said, thank god we have cold winters to reduce these camps.
The most ironic part is that they tore down a homeless encampment........ next to a homeless shelter, and Gondek is up in arms that By-law tore down "the only home they have." What is the giant $20 million building next door for? This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
Should I expect a tax credit in 2022 for the $20 million dollar refund when we shift to rely on homeless encampments to house the homeless, instead of the homeless center.....
You can't make this up.
I like neat cars.
Which those people were kicked out of because they were fighting other residents. So let's build another facility that they can get kicked out of too!
I think a one way bus ticket to Gondeks neighborhood is in order.

Yea that’s a big one people don’t get. The ones who are wandering around late by the drop in centre, there is a reason they weren’t let into the drop in centre.
I used to work retail near there, drop in centre intake ends at 9pm and we closed at 10. So all the drop in centre rejects who were too drunk or spun out or aggressive to go in would make my shop their own little shelter and would need forcible removal.
Good times.
