1997 was a different era. I’m not saying it happened for sure, but there certainly could be an element of the “blue code” here.

And let’s not pretend this guy is a saint. He admitted to the domestic disturbance incident in 2007. He really isn’t helping the stereotype of police being more likely to be domestic abusers here. How does someone get medals of exemplary service after literally having your gun confiscated after a domestic incident where you pull out your rifle?
Does "code blue" extend to the independent Crown that reviewed the matter and determined there were no criminal charges to be laid?

As for the "domestic incident", an argument where Chu's spouse is worried for HIS safety because he was distraught and went the basement where his locked rifle was now qualifies as him helping some stereotype that cops are domestic abusers? Every article on this has been pretty carefully crafted to lead the reader down the "Chu was arguing with his wife and pulled a gun on her" path, when the reality is slightly different. And the police seizing the rifle would be routine procedure in that kind of case, even if it was locked in the safe.

His ex wife literally defended him in the damn article if people read lol.

Quote because people do not read anymore.

In a written statement provided to CBC News Chu's ex-wife confirmed the incident and said she never wanted to involve police.

"I worried he might harm himself," said Chu's former spouse in an email.

"Sean has never physically threatened or harmed myself or our children."

    Calgary's Future PAC.

That's enough reason I didn't vote for Gondek or Wyness.

According to Calgary’s Future’s website, it is supported by local labour organizations.
TLDR, Unions tapped into woke votes and r/Calgary and won big. Can't wait til PACs fucking up next provincial election.

CPS had a cis gender female running the force back in 1997. No wonder they covered it up!

Lol I love all the insinuation and moronic arguments. Jesus.

If she gets rid of Chu early, she can then just concentrate her wrath on the rest of the exsiting whiteys with generalizations.

Sounds like the type of boss you might want to call sick on. At least with Nenshi you would get extra duck and two fortune cookies.

My bad dudes. Insinuating you’re going to off yourself during an argument with your wife is completely normal behaviour. So normal the cops deemed it dangerous enough to confiscate the gun and put you in the tank for a couple nights. Happened to me last week now that I think of it! My wife and kids were a bit pissed but they know it happens to the best of us.

Totally awesome behaviours and traits for elected officials. Carry on and again my bad for the unwarranted criticism!

I'm super excited people decided to give a shit about this dudes history thirteen years after he entered politics and a few days after he was elected to city council for the third consecutive time. Nice work.

    Jesus.

    Jesus.
Chu backers don't give a shit. And if they didn't redraw the border, the result won't even be this close. They took Sandstone and MacEwan away from Chu trying to get rid of him and he still stands (until recount)

People act like as if we don't have a system to handle this kind of things so that we need to take matter into our own hands. If that is true then, oh well I'm going to stock up on toilet paper.

The past couple elections have had some unfortunate results for the parties in power. The NDP didn't tighten up on PACs when they had the chance because they thought they would have the advantage with unions. It backfired because they overestimated the support they had and the number of potential donors, and conservative PACs jumped on it (suburban developers and car dealerships in particular had money to burn, apparently).

Then the UCP changed municipal donation rules in an attempt to help get more conservatives elected in municipalities and onto boards of trustees in school districts. Farkas and other "conservative slate" candidates even praised the changes. And why wouldn't they? It was catered for them. But it backfired and unions took advantage and nobody wanted anything to do with anything conservative related and nobody was donating.

    Regrets all around, really.
