Did you try using an HB #2 pencil or whatever scantron loves?

The mantra of “he’s only one vote” that was dogmatically chanted when people complained about Nenshi is about to get tossed I imagine.
The sense I get from Farkas and his contrarianism is that he may only be one vote, but he will be the one constantly railing against whatever the issue was regardless of the outcome. As mayor, he'll either be screaming "I told you so" or "this is stupid, council is stupid".

Most things the city does are stupid and Council is definitely stupid.

    So yea that makes sense.

He may be one vote, but he's also the person that represents the Council. Dissension during a Council debate is one thing. Public dissension from the person who is supposed to represent the Council is a completely different animal that fuels further animosity among Council, other civil employees and the general population.

Call me crazy, but that sounds like it might be a good change.

What's the alternative... council that gets along with one another and rallies around a leader that spends money like a drunken sailor? That's been just peachy for the last few years.

Just don't show up for votes like Nenshi did.

Um, wouldn't this mean that Farkus was right?

Works for me... I want a mayor that actually is not just another nut swinger to those that want nothing more than to tax and waste.

I hope he drops the sausage making analogy in an F-U ode to Nenshi right out of the gate.

If you want to be technical about it he represents voters and taxpayers. Not council.

If that means municipal employees are grumpy with him that’s just a bonus.

I don't really care who wins mayor at this point. I'm more invested in kicking out fat joe.

It's not about tax and waste with Farkas.

Playing devil's advocate, being a contrarian, whatever you want to call it, is good - if not necessary - during a discussion and debate. But once a vote is counted and it goes contrary to whatever stance he took, Farkas strikes me as the person that will throw a fit about it and say that's not what he wants and I wouldn't be shocked if he tries to singlehandedly filibuster any decision Council makes, good or bad. Not only that, it sends conflicting messages about what Council is doing.

Imagine the recent vote about the REP in September where the bylaw was passed by Council in which Farkas was the only nay. It's not surprising he's the only nay, given his track record. But it's also not surprising then, given his track record, that, as Mayor, that he would not only voted 'no', but he would've also been extremely vocal about his opposition to the bylaw AFTER the approval to the point that it sends a mixed message to the populace. For someone who voted 'no' because he felt it would "muddy the waters", that is exactly what he would do if he were Mayor.

Sorry, I'm failing to see the downside.

Maybe if you say he eats live babies, I think that's where you're headed anyways.

You could always move to Ontario or start your own city, I think that's what all the morons on social media use as their retort these days.

With the way he votes, I wouldn't be surprised if Council voted 14-1 to say they don't eat babies, and the lone vote confirming would be Farkas.

I also didn't say I'd leave the city if Farkas wins. I'm not a fan of his, but if he wins he wins. I don't know how you came to that suggestion.
