Her excuse that it's become political(total bs) didn't stop her from throwing support behind Ukraine. It seems she's a Jew hater.
I saw someone say something along the lines of [paraphrased] "Russia claimed Nazis were in the Ukraine so they invaded and she immediately threw her support behind Ukraine... now that Israel is being attacked she said it's too political to take a stance. Nazi confirmed"

    I laughed.

    She's a twat either way.

Lol im so glad i dont live in Calgary anymore. I like how they stated that some would vote on a freeze but nobody piped up. Why would anyone want to get a nice ole pay increase while increasing property taxes and implementing stupid bylaws? Bunch of fucking twits.

I dunno, $120K isn't a lot these days. Like I'd have to take a huge pay cut to be a clowncillor. Imagine how much graft I'd have to take to make up my lost earnings.

How does this really affect anyone living here? Is this really a reason you’re glad you don’t live here? Articles like this are weaponized to incite anger. Like suntan said, it’s such a minuscule amount in the grand scheme of things. 2.4% raise? People quit for that. There’s much bigger things to be pissed off at council for. This ain’t it.

Yes getting fired up over a rounding error while letting their annual 10% budget increases slide is the problem.

I’d happily double councils comp if in exchange they cut the budget by 10%

That's what happens when you get people clearly unqualified for the positions. They should actually pay more so that smart people actually run.

Does that nutter still attend every council meeting and do his 45 minute rant?

Then in 5 years people will ask why councilors are making more than median and compare their comp to CEO comps lol. You can’t win when people are generally stupid.

Not having a dumb mayor would help. The argument is pretty simple. Not even fatso could articulate it though.

The city tied it's wage increase to the average wage index so I'm less annoyed at them. Seems like a reasonable system rather than letting them vote their own raises. End of the day as others said the budget is what they need to cut millions out of. A few thousand in payroll isn't enough.

Of all the things you could hate the current municipal government for, their paltry raise is not one of them.

Councillor pay is irrelevant. Although people might feel better if councillors only got raises in years when taxes went down. Meaningless, but help the feels maybe.

10% of calgary employees make 125k+ (~1400 people).. the 14 councilors are nothing to the budget

Fire them all, let council keep 10% of what they save.

I had a summer job at The Corporation in 1996. I ended up in a meeting with 11 team leaders/managers. And me. No action items from the meeting.

Oh that was decided before the meeting.

    I shit you not.

I still, to this day, have no idea why I was in that meeting.
