Default Bragg Creek $100 Million Dollar Hotel Development

News to me, guess that turn off will get even more busy than it already is. Pretty huge development.

If there's one thing Bragg Creek hates, it's development. I picture many many many future obstacles and opposition to this. We'll see.
I think that one OG member is from somewhere out that way. I can't recall his name. I bet he'll have some good insight.

Bragg Creek would be happiest if nobody ever went there. This development is in direct opposition to that goal.

That being said, I never go there now, and this development doesn't appear to have anything that would change that. I drove through there on my way to the Powderface road a few times a year.

Also had to lol at this lady

More blunt was Pauline Keen, who said after 35 years of living in Bragg Creek she’s hoping to move to Vancouver Island because of the coming development.

“Some of us want growth in a controlled and slow-moving manner that we can digest, which is not happening now,” said Keen.
Apparently she hasn't been paying attention to Van.Island, because it has fucking boomed with development over the last 20 years, unless you want to live north of Campbell River.

They're certainly big, but I don't know if they are the BEST I've tasted.

It's basically the same moving out of country because of Trudeau/Trump crowd. Grass is always greener...

Hopefully the upcoming improvements will fix things there. The existing intersection was never designed for the weekend traffic volumes we have been seeing for the past decade... plus people here don't know how to drive a 4-way stop even in the best of conditions.

I actually know the developer quite well and he is honestly a really good dude and has fantastic ideas in general. He is a smart guy and on top of wanting to be successful, he really gives a shit about what he is doing and in the long run, I think this will be good for the area! Just like anything though, there are always nimby's that never want anything to change in what they are comfortable with and I get that, but really this project is tits!

I think it’s funny when people don’t realize the downsides of trying to attract more and more and more people somewhere.

Turns out, most of us don’t actually like people that much. If we did I suppose we would live in Hong Kong or something.

I don’t think I dislike anything more than things being too busy.

Haha, that intersection is hilarious. We use the Bragg Creek "shortcut" when going to the mountains (like everyone else) and I don't think I've ever made it through there without having to facepalm at least once, lol.

RIP to the developers wallet to get that thing approved. Good luck.

RVC council approved it last week. Which is surprising considering how much of a pain it is to get anything approved through the county. But this project has been in the planning stages for quite a while.

Bragg is really stagnant right now so something like this should be good for the community and businesses. Though I am glad I live far enough south from Bragg that I don’t have to worry about current or predicted traffic levels.

I don’t know, the article just said council unanimously approved it last week. I really haven’t been following it since I’m in a different county and am really not impacted.

Bragg Creek is a real dump, considering the natural beauty of the area and close proximity to a large, wealthy centre like Calgary.

There is a large elephant in the room responsible for that…

It's quaint, the used bookstore is great.

Food there sucks though. Every restaurant there sucks. Bakery is okay.
