I was going to say it was Stephen Harper…

    What were you thinking of?
Same. I knew you hated white guys.

You realize you are talking to the guy who made his own furniture out of salad bowls right?

It's quaint, the used bookstore is great.

Food there sucks though. Every restaurant there sucks. Bakery is okay.
Mountain bistro and Korner Kitchen both have decent pizza. The Steak pit back in the day was one of my favourite places, have dinner, a rusty nail and cigar.
That whole area is a massive firetrap because it's verboten to cut down a tree. I looked at a few properties out there , every one of them needed some serious deforestation work to minimize the danger to the structures from fire or windfall. On top of that the covenants were ridiculous, move out to the country, but please , don't do anything.

I thought you lived out in that approximate area already. No?

    Fire break? What’s that??

I’ve been to both places l, they’re... okay at best. Mountain Bistro has changed hands a few times though so it might have gotten better. Oh yeah and same thing with Korner Kitchen.

Like Canmores 1.2m ‘fire break’ around any new structure lol. I’m sure that’ll stop the raging inferno!

I spent a bunch of money at the Steak Pit on gift certificates for Christmas, and then the place closed. Wonder if they will honour them if they build another or if I will ever spend money there in the future? Hell no to both.

I lived near Black Diamond for a long time. I live on the way to Bragg Creek now, close enough to dine out there, near enough to the City to be convenient for work. When they finish crocheting the southwest ring road addition, it will be very convenient location for a rural propery. I looked at a dozen or so properties out in Bragg Creek, it was going to be a fight on every single one of those listings to build a shop of any real size without having livestock or a healing crystal factory as a front. The amount of Green Party signs also told me my love of big block Dodges wasn't going to be make me a lot of friends out there.. You have to be a Willie Nelson look a like driving a Volkswagen Transporter to fit in with locals. I'm surpised the locals put up with that motorcycle coffee shop in the main mall.
I hung out with the bragg creek teen crowd in the 80's, the over protective shut it all down crowd were always called Creekers, people who opposed basically every development out there, no matter what it was. I'm pretty sure the present Creekers will now mount a campaign against the hotel development, even though it looks to be approved of by the MD.

It has been approved by the MD 100% now. Overall most of the community is happy with it but there will always be those who never want anything in their back yard to change.

I'm sure we'll soon see finger painted signs out in the area accusing the development of displacing yellow peckered pine weasels.

The pine weasels and the aspen martins are pretty rare. Rumor had it they actually never had thier range covering that area. Then one biologist on mescaline makes some drawings, and we'll, here we are. Fucking scientists.
