Don’t worry. We can just throw some money at air Canada to run unprofitable bus routes.

But they're called Air Canada. Also buses use fossil fuels.
That'll prop up the short haul air routes! Do subsidized books of tickets for them for whatever greyhound used to charge! It's perfect.

Back in the day my parents had a gas station in small town BC and were Greyhound agents so we got to ride the bus for free anywhere in Canada. It was awesome when I was young! The buses went everywhere and you would always find the people to get hammered with and party or whatever. I fucking rode that bitch to Quebec city in 3.5 days! Had a great time thinking about it, but today there is no chance I would do it again haha! This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
Yea I rode the greyhound to a friend's cabin a few times in jr high when I was too young to drive. It was fine it just took forever. It was cheap

If they just strung the Greyhound airline along a couple of extra decades, they could have been flowing in sweet government money! This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote

Heads definitely rolled here when the Gov't shuttered the money sink that was STC. We serfs should be thankful Greyhound isn't based out of Quebec.

I say stupid shit all the time.
Took it once to Medicine Hat to see a girl when my parents wouldn't let me take their truck in highschool. Didn't even get to 3rd base. Not sure if that's why I never rode
one again, but it was my first and last trip, lol.
I got lots of car parts shipped to me for cheap though over the years, so it served me well.

It's a Chrysler, it won't last long enough to depreciate.
Took a greyhound up to Edmonton to pick up a car about a decade ago. Took another one out to Hope BC to pickup a truck that broke down there and was repaired. It then broke down on me again, 20 mins outside of town.

2021 is the year of the experts.
Greyhound Canada closure will be a ‘disaster’ for rural communities, experts say
https://globalnews.ca/news/7860104/g...r-communities/
Just how in the hell do you become a transportation expert and what qualification or training do you need to be proclaimed one by the media?Several transportation experts say that Greyhound Canada’s decision to shut down bus services permanently is going to have a compounded effect on some of the country’s already most disadvantaged commuters and travellers
What courses or training do you need to be a Beyond.ca Expert?
I've taken both courses, but the media attention from the transportation expert status was unwieldy. Like my dank.

Rural youngsters probably will be slammed pretty hard. Rural white people usually proclaim a vehicle as being their most valued possession as its the first real taste of freedom away from the farm. It would explain a lot of central USA and Canada obsession with the combustion car, even though technically its a constantly depreciating liability. Its the "luke skywalker gets his first spaceship ride" type thing, which I personally have no experience with - but can understand how its important for mental sanity of rural living, even if it is just a greyhound bus and not the millenium falcon.
Realistically, you take your first Greyhound bus trip to the city to go to the car dealership to buy your first beater.
Don't ask me how they survive out there without internet.
In the city, meh - just go scooter and electric car (very soon) is fine for short trips. City to city do the plane.

Actually you might be surprised how many old people, sick people, handicapped etc who no longer have are licenses or are not allowed to drive, that ride the bus in small towns to go to appointments in the city etc and have no other means of transport. I would say that was most of the ridership at this point which sadly is not enough to sustain a business like Greyhound, but the truth is it will have a pretty real effect on them. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. I don’t disagree with the article or the effect of greyhound shutting down on small communities. Seems like everything from the media these days has an “expert” of some kind, because otherwise people will think it’s a conspiracy. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
While greyhound is shutdown we still have companies like Red Arrow running routes. If there is a market for it, someone will offer service. I’ll miss shipping large car items like wheels and tires via Greyhound Courier Express. Way cheaper than anyone else.
