Update: We're picking up a 2021 Hybrid Limited AWD. For the small increase in price (< $2k), it was worth it. Thanks for my bruv @tonytiger55 for mentioning this.

    TLDR:

    - Started off with a Car Cost Canada report, Stampede Toyota quoted us $44,400 for the vehicle.
    - Charlesglen would match it, but could only give us $3500 for trade-in.
    - Red Deer Toyota wasn't able to match, but Ryan was helpful and was willing to make concessions where possible.
    - Reached out to Northwest Edmonton Toyota, they are a high-volume dealer and were able to match $44.4k and give us $5k for trade-in.

    Factors:
    - Toyota doesn't have a lot of play in accessories such as dashcam/OEM rims. Given that we were getting the vehicle for $44.4k, no one wanted to budge on accessories.
    - Accessories like trunk liner are a negligible cost, so I took them out entirely
    - It came down to our trade-in value. Getting an extra $1500 for the car makes a difference.
    - High-volume dealers are the way to go. They have more margin in every aspect.

We're just waiting for a Red hybrid to show up on the lot now. The salesperson is going to drive it down and deliver it to us and take the Santa Fe back. Fingers crossed for no rock chips before I can bring it to Rainer for XPEL/Revivify.

We can pay for the owing balance either through bank draft or wire transfer #nocardebt

Thanks for coming to my shitty TED talk and as usual, YMMV.

Was that $44,400 all-in? The Toyota website has RAV4 in that spec as $48,400. I've been looking at this car for a long time (can justify the cost to go to a Prime) and that sounds like quite the deal.

Oh yeah thanks to this thread for recommendations, ended up heading to Red Deer this past weekend and got a Highlander.

Ryan was super friendly and easy to work with both over the phone/email and in person. One of the smoothest experiences I've had with a dealership.

Haven't really taken any pictures since it rained all week, she's going to Jed for PPF in a weeks time

@got_mike33 No, it was $44.4k pre-GST. I didn't get any offers lower than that. I was pretty hands-off and didn't counteroffer with what I wanted to pay.

Dealers just don't have enough margin to do anything on the dashcam and OEM rims that I wanted, and I wasn't going to nitpick over several hundred dollars of accessories.

At the end of the day, I'm happy with $46,620 OTD.

PS: I was told that all RAV4's sold in Alberta come with a block heater and all-weather mats, so just an FYI in case anyone says they're doing you a favour by adding into the list.

That sounds like a pretty good deal this year.

    Bump.

What kind of financing rates did any of you get? Can anyone give any input on how the financing through dealership works vs bank?
The default on the Toyota website is around 3.69%. How realistic is that? Im part financing, credit is good, no debit other than mortgage.

I might pull the trigger this weekend. I got a test drive tomorrow morning.

Beyonders only pay outright in CASH

But for us common plebs, we went with a 5 year financing term at 3.39% and if I recall correctly for each additional year the financing % was lower but we didn't want to go any longer than a 5 year term.

Was no real difference as far as obtaining financing through a bank, you do the sales thing, talk with the sales manager and they should be able to give you your term options/payments before they toss you in with the finance manager if you decide to purchase.
Pretty similar setup to financing through Honda as they are their own lender as well, can log into their financing portal and see all your term info, payment scheduling, amount remaining, etc.

He was great to deal with a few years back when I picked up a Jetta from him at Gary Moe, painless no bs experience, if I was looking for a new Toyota I'd go to him too.
This. Ryan was easy to deal with. Best price right off the bat.

Did you also consider the 4Runner when you were looking at the Highlander?

We are going to need a new vehicle soon and I'm considering the 4Runner but I noticed the Highlander at the dealership on the weekend and they look nice. I want something with the 3rd row seats and AWD. Don't need a lot of fancy options.

I was originally looking at 4Runners because I like the look of them and good rep, but between lack of stock at the time and more so once I saw the updated Highlander I obviously changed my mind.

The facelift the Highlander got was a nice improvement, once we checked one out/test drove one it was a pretty quick turn in what we wanted. Didn't need any of the offroading capabilities the 4Runner has to offer and the Highlander ticked all our boxes so we went that route. Ended up with a Limited Platinum trim so it has all the bells and whistles, very nice vehicle, super smooth and quiet drive.

Looked at the Pilot as well to cross shop and more so since I'm a Honda guy, but visually inside and out I didn't care for the Pilot enough to sway me to stay with Honda.

I bought my Venza Limited a couple months ago from CH Toyota.. wasn't the best experience, but I got a price I was willing to pay. Some family members are buying, altogether, 3 RAV4 Hybrids and the best deal they received was from Cochrane - you could try them as well.

What kind of deal does one get when buying RAV4 Hybrids in bulk?

Ours is getting delivered from Edmonton by the salesperson and we opted to have them wrap it in Xpel to avoid getting rock chips on the way here.

    Not for sale anyways.

My bud at South Pointe did a delivery to some couple in Lethbridge with their first one, but the few they're getting were all spoken for AFAIK.

Edit - I'm told they've delivered 5-6 and have ~40 on the waitlist, lol.

Anyone plan to get any trucks? Tacoma or the new Tundra? We are looking for a truck as (from my post in the RV thread), we need something to tow a trailer we’re wanting to get. I thought we should get a Tacoma first (if there’s any available that is) and since its resale is insane, maybe trade it in next year or 2 for the new Tundra.
