Designed for 2 people (so actually 1 comfortably)
or comfortably fits 2 people (so more like 4 by design)?

1 smaller adult and 1 60 lb kid. Light weight is important as this smaller adult needs to carry all the gear.

Mec and/or outdoor centre rent decent ones if no one has available. But ya if you’re for 2 people get a 3 person

I have a not terrible 3 man you could use… I have no idea how much it weighs though.

I backpacked with it in high school once and while it was a lug ( it’s not some fancy backpackers tent, I bought it at Costco ) it was doable.

Might be worth figuring out what a purist 3 man backpackers tent weighs, then see how many extra lb you could stomach for a cheap one?

I've heard of a lot of people doing this. Don't think I can bring myself to behave this way. May end up buying something, or rather my wife may. I'm not going on this trip.

Is this like people who “buy” tools from Home Depot?

I've got a MEC Camper 2 you can borrow if you think it'd work for you, it's a pretty basic rig but doesn't weigh a ton. (~5lb)

I love people who do that. It's how I have gotten a lot of my tools. People return them, and then I buy them at like 50% off and still get full warranty.

What about the CRT TV that @suntan borrowed from Costco for 19 years?
