Default WFH - Best noise cancellation on the Mic on a headset? (bluetooth or not)

I'm sure there are a few threads, but I couldn't quite see them..

What are people's go-to for good Active Noice Cancelling, but more imporantly, for the MIC for particularly noisy areas?

I have jabbra ANC-65s and have also used other Noise Cancelling Headphones, but it just cancels exernal ambiant noise to the headphone but not the MIC.

I have this for when I'm driving. People say they can't tell I'm driving, even at highway speed with the windows down.

Maybe an unpopular suggestion. But AirPods Pro are incredible for this.

For my home office, I have had pretty good luck with the Astro A40 with mixamp. It seems to filter out all the background noise while letting voice through just fine. For mobile use though, I haven't a clue.

AFAIK, this is the best at mic processing for noise, etc.

I'm on my 10th or 11th one going back to when it was the plantronics voyager legend, etc.

    Highly recommended.

If you can deal with the mono-style, this is a solid unit. Available for a good discount through the "warehouse deals" portions of Amazon right now too.

love this... but definately but would definately prefer over the ear - that said, they have those options. 96% noise supression effectiveness is something else

I found the only time my AirPods Pro has an issue is top down windows down over 60kmh in the Miata. It renders the mic completely useless and silence on the other end. Honestly I’m not sure if any headset can fix that. It’s so windy the passengers can’t hear me either haha.

I always hoped one of the gaming headsets with the boom mic would work for this, but they all seem to be shit at microphone noise cancellation, particularly wind. .
Apparently the Bose 700's are quite good at this, slightly better than Sony Wh-1000xm4 's according to rtings. I personally haven't tested.

For indoor WFH use just some mid-range USB gaming headphones. USB connection is gud.

Call me crazy, but something tells me the guys who design gaming headsets don't consider wind noise

Bose 700s are good, not as good as airpod pros. I have bose quietcomfort buds as well, and they seem good but haven't used them outside the office yet to test things like wind.

I agree. Been a game changer addition for my setup.

The mic on my Sony is crap compared to Apple

That's because your head is riding about the windshield, you tall ape!

For home use I have Anker Soundcore Air 2's from Costco. Couldn't be happier.
I think they are coming out with more noise cancellation ones soon.
Their whole line out performs Apple, costs less and I think that's really the best selling feature.

You are correct. They generally use highly directional microphones which capture sound from a narrow cone-shaped "field of view", so that works reasonably well for background indoor noise but not for wind. That's why gaming headsets aren't good outdoors.

That plus the disproportionate investment in total headset cost on flashing lights.

I wanted a Wireless one, and got Plantronics Voyager Focus UC

-excellent audio and mic quality, great for calls
-you can either wear the mic on the left or right side and the sound on the ears auto adjusts
-active noise cancellation that you can turn on and off
-auto mutes once you take off the headset
    -easy charging

I have this one too. I really like it but I wouldn’t say it’s perfect for filtering out background noise through the mic. Sometimes people can hear my kids or my dog barking through it, but it’s good to block “normal” office noise ie someone beside you talking at normal volume. Anything really loud or high pitched will still come through.

Aside from that I love everything else about it. The range is really good if you enable the long range setting, sound quality is outstanding, noise canceling is great, good battery life, comfortable and very adjustable, and I really like the intuitive lighting on the USB connector that tells you what the current status is (muted or not).

I am still thinking that BlueParott is going to be the path I'm heading down... being that they do have them available at local stores like Visions

wait... I just set my teams' noise supression to 'High'

    It actually works super well
