Now the leak last year on R seems pretty accurate.

I wouldn't consider this a hatch... Maybe a wagon.
Looks pretty good to me - I suspect it will be one of those cars that looks better in person as well. The sedan especially just looks like a 2018 accord shrunk a bit haha. I think it was a smart move to clean up the gaudy bodywork a bit from the 10th gen.
Props to Honda for being one of the only manufacturers to not cover all the interior surfaces in piano black or some other ultra-shiny material and shitty capacitive touch everything. That seems to be universally hated and yet many others still do it including luxury brands year after year because it looks good in brochure photos.
I don't like that they removed the cavernous center console from the 10th gen though, that was so useful. The 'tacked on' screen look is terrible IMO but virtually everyone does it now for ease of warranty replacement. Infotainment got a nice looking update but I never had any problems with the 10th gen one - the only thing that really matters anymore is that it has Android Auto / Apple Car Play and hard buttons for climate.
The hatch is massive, almost the same space as a lot of CUV's. Also finally you can get a heated wheel in a Civic.
Hopefully the Si gets more than a ~10% power bump over the regular Civic unlike last year. It won't come in a hatch though.
Reminds me of Tankor (a.k.a. Rhinox) from Beast Machines.

But it reminds me of Crosstour.
Maybe a little bit, I see a lot more Accord than Crosstour personally. The Crosstour is one of the ugliest vehicles out there IMO haha. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
If the Type R looks like that concept I think most people will be happy. It was surprisingly accurate in terms of shape and they must have had some insider info because the tail lights are identical.
I'm not up to date on when the Corolla, Mazda3, Elantra, etc. are due for overhauls so I'm not sure what the closest competition would be these days. I think Hyundai is the only one even offering a FI engine option.
Corolla is mid life and stay NA. Rumor GR version coming. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
Elantra is FI and just refreshed.
Mazda3 is also mid life and got a 2.5T top end.
Oh that's right I forgot about the Mazda3 2.5T - I think it gets the 6AT transmission from the larger vehicles in Mazda's though which leave much to be desired. A manual option would be much better suited to that car IMO. ~$40K OTD is a bit spicy but you do get AWD. It's oddly slow as well for how much power it has but that is probably more to do with the transmission. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
Corolla GR is interesting - hope that one comes here.
WUT? did you just make that shit up? It's filled with plastic in piano black lmao. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
Take another look. None of the touch surfaces are gloss black - every review I have seen so far has mentioned the same thingThis quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
But.. it's got a.. hatch. A VW golf is more of a wagon than this car is, what would you call it?This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
This is not a wagon, there's no D pillar, and the roof stats sloping downwards before the rear seat occupants head.

Maybe I'm retarded. This looks like any other piano black in every other car.
There are two thin trim pieces that you don't touch that are gloss black (one on the rear of the door panel and one above the climate knobs). The center area with the cup holders (that is the worst offender in most cars), all knobs, switches, handles and anything you are likely to touch during normal use have apparently been designed specifically to hide fingerprints and smudges. If you watch the prominent YouTube reviews it's easiest to see as they test this and make a point of mentioning it.This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
No surprise there - the Si has always been a North American product and hatches/wagons don't typically sell well in the USA. I think a Si hatch would be a nice option to have though, especially if it was $5K less than a GTI.This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
Whatever they do, I hope they give it a HP bump maybe more in line with the GTI power-wise to make it more competitive than the 10th gen Si was.
so yes, there are piano black everywhere in the car. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
This just made my nightThis quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
Again, no, but I get that you have to be right about everything so we're wasting our time here. There are two strips of gloss black that you don't touch, the vast majority of the interior is not gloss black and none of the touch surfaces are gloss black - if that is "everywhere" to you then I don't know what more to say. Honda themselves along with every published review I have seen so far also mentions this, but they are wrong too I guess. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
So non-touch areas aren't piano black?
wat
