For some reason I thought getting sumps tied into sanitary was a no no in Calgary

I believe Concrete Innovations does this. See here for more details: https://www.radgarage.ca/drainage.html
Hmm. I guess I am not after a catch basin. I want a clean out.

You can get floor drains tied to sanitary if your garage is attached. Source: have 2 in my garage.

Technically you could do the same in a detached garage and bring it back into your basement and then tie into sanitary.
Yeah, the garage will be connected to sanitary. I just want a way to clean out the fine silt and rocks that the cars will bring in.

    Ah, totally.

I have a P-Trap in the basement... probably should pop that bad boy open and see the damage so far. With that said I sweep the garage clean before and significant hose action goes down to avoid too much shit collecting down there. I'll update in 20 years when my sanitary is clogged with sludge haha.

How much did the slab and pony walls cost? Are concrete prices crazy now as well?
I don't have a breakdown of the cost. But for the cost, it should have a living space over it....fakk

Where are people evacuating their water? Out the side of the house like a sump pump?

Ridiculous thst you can’t get this stuff tied into sewer…
mine isn't going to drain anywhere, but you could attach a pipe, run it out of the building around the slab/footing like a weeping tile. Don't cut out the knockout in the basin until after all inspections are complete.....

I don't think I have a break down on the cost. I hired a builder for everything. I did remove 4 large trees prior to them commi g in. I have access to all the equipment to do that myself. Hauled out a tandem truck with tri axel trailer before any garage prep was started.

Oh perfect, it’ll be compatible with these decorative grates. Let the wife choose decor, while approving more $$ to your garage projects

    URGENT!!!
You need to "chair" that rebar.

The rebar SHALL be situated in approximately the top third of the slab as that's the portion that will be in tension where the rebar needs to do its job.
They will tell you that they will reach into the concrete and grab the rebar matrix to pull it higher after the concrete is poured. That's what I and my crooked boss used to do.
That is bullshit. Do not accept that. The density of steel is 3x higher than concrete so it WILL sink back to the bottom. That does not meet code.

I think I read that from you somewhere on here before. Would broken prices of patio stone (concrete) work ? Or do they need to be the stand thing you can buy?

This would work. Previous post about rear not floating is very true.

Oh, absolutely! Anything at all that gets that shit out of the bottom of the slab will work. Sticks, broken chunks of fuck, ruined prime rib, dildos, PC Wieners, GME stock certificates. Anything!

The contractor's motivation is being able to run a wheel barrow from the truck's chute to the rest of the pour. Line pumps and boom pumps are VERY expensive and elevated rebar is a fucking nightmare to wheel across.

At the end of the day, the rebar might as well not be there if it's in the bottom half.

    @ThePenIsMightier

Do you know what the code this doesn't meet? I took a quick look and no why I can find this.

Thats all we used in the past, chunks of stone or left over pieces to keep the rebar up. It doesn't have to be perfectly straight so you don't need many to elevate all the rebar off the ground. All I remember was when I helped my dad with his garage I fucking hated doing the rebar. Hours of tying all the intersects with wire as a kid to do the whole place.

    I don't. I'm sorry. I don't know where to look for that.
I'm not certain that it doesn't meet code, but I strongly suspect that it wouldn't.
Somewhere in the vast Alberta Building Code (ABC).

I'm not sure I'd recommend the Chamberlain/Liftmaster RJO20C. Maybe its cause I oversized my door but I haven't been impressed with it. Door is correctly balanced too AFAIK, able to move it by hand without much effort.
"too much effort" says it all. You've got door issues to resolve, opener needs smooth and easy movement of the door - 2 fingers to open or close (with the side mount, idealy - it'll creep down on it's own to about half open).
