On the rebar, in my garage floor, they pounded rods into the compacted base and suspended the rebar lattice above the base about 3", the floor is 5" thick. I can't say enough about maximizing the available R-value available. I optioned for the highest R value the building could hold, my actual heat requirements are less than half of what was originally calculated. It was supposed to need 160k btu on the coldest of days, but one 80k btu/hr tube heater does it with ease. I would also take the wall to maximum height with a high lift door option.

Edit: the liftmaster remotes suck balls, short transmit distance, but the buttons are too easy depressed when in your pocket. My old opener needed a solid push to "click" the button, the liftmaster swithes activate with little pressure so the door starts doing things if you lean against something or bend down.

I did remove 4 large trees prior to them coming in.

HUGE thank you Sir! I was the recipient of some of those trees you cut down . Will hopefully be turning it into firewood shortly. It was a pleasure to meet you and the family and best of luck with your build. Looks great so far!

    Cheers,

    Rob

I think it was the MyQ repeater kit - that you could use; got you back onto the old 9series transmitter frequency/rolling codes. In most cases people were pretty happy with the range of them. There were a few areas where there were struggles for range though - up top of signal hill / above COP if I recall was a recurring issue.

Concrete was poured yesterday in the blazing heat. I have been told because of that, the top in some areas has dired too fast and will crack/come apart. Looking at it, I see a couple spots where you can tell this will happen. How are they going to fix this? I don't think it's too big of deal for me since I plan on epoxy coating it net year. I will continue to spray it with water throughout the day. What should I know about the above.

So did the concrete contractor raise the rebar? Did you address it with them?

I asked for them to. They didn't want to. Said they can't wheel over when its raised. I did raise it with prices of broken up patio slabs. Only about 2 inches. Wanted to go higher, but it wasn't very stable higher than 2 while walking on it.

When mine got done, I had a concrete guru professor say that covering it with burlap and keeping it wet for a few days was the key.
I put the cheapest poly I could find on it after soaking it to help stop the top of the slab from baking too quickly in the heat over the first few days.
The concrete installer said I was a complete fucking idiot and since he's the second dumbest person I've met on earth, I felt confident that I was onto something.

Soaked filter cloth and poly, or just poly at the minimum, should have been placed on top and kept wet for a few days, even without the heat that we had the last few days. Good on you for doing the lifting of the rebar despite their moaning, I would have told them to lay some boards over the rebar if they can’t place concrete in a form that’s been properly prepared

On slab of that size, that's a pretty lame excuse. They wheel barrowed mine in over rebar on planks.

The builder has been really good so far. His concrete contractor, not so much. The builder calls every day to touch base and see if I have questions and has been very open to feedback.

You didn't use OSB for sheathing??! Did you fly that plywood in on your G6?

I think my framer didn't put any of that up until the trusses were up. But that's probably just because he learned it from a different prison.

Spray foam the roof. Not the walls.....still poor. Especially after this garage.
