Yikes. Side profile looks nice. Thats the only good thing I can say about this car.

4 series and M3 still take the cake for overall ugliness.

Man BMW is such a mess... 4 series, M3, 2 series, X4, X6 all absolutely hideous

Never seen a lineup split down the middle of really nice looking cars and absolute disasters. Maybe its all karma stemming from their electric car commercial trying to make fun of boomers.

2022’s have landed. Looks great in person.

Interior in particular is massively improved as well. Basically straight out of the current 5 series.

    No fugly grill either.

Laziness letting the wide angle do the work for me?

I wasn’t a fan when I checked it out a few weeks ago. Car looks huge in person, too much piano black exterior trim. I did notice the Mexican and American made BMWs have better exterior quality than the German made ones now…

It is definitely not small. Easily an extra 2-3 inches of room in the front. First thing I noticed.

Maybe my expectations were just very low after the catastrophe that is the new M3

    The headlights aren’t great.

Wow, the inside of a BMW showroom. It's been so long, I thought I'd never see one again

Was in one Monday. BMW makes some very nice overpriced driving appliances. Stared at a new M8 and fell asleep.

So is that sort of like I don’t want to belong to any club that would have me as a member?

Not a fan of the black trim on the rear bumper or the tail lights (at least they are smoked on this car) but the rest of the car looks pretty good. Most people think of the M2 when discussing the 2 Series but the reality is that the last gen M240i was kind of blah looking as without the M2 fender flares as it looked kind of like a breakfast sausage on wheels. This one has a much better stance due to the wider rear fenders and even a hood bulge for good measure. Bodes well for the incoming M2. I just hope it has less black plastic as I'm not a fan of this latest trend of black plastic everywhere as to me it looks kind of cheap. I used to like the RS3 until they made the entire front end black plastic on the new ones.

Somewhat related, I saw my first 228 gran coupe IRL the other day... god those things are dreadful. When the journalists were comparing it to a corolla, I thought they might have been using a bit of hyperbole... but nope. Horrible driving dynamics mixed with those looks

Back on topic, I'm sure this new 2 series will look a bit better IRL than in photos, but it still isn't doing it for me.

Yes as black is probably the 2nd best color for this car. I actually think the purple color looks really nice and it's dark enough that the black plastic doesn't stick out like it does on white and the chalk grey (Brooklyn Grey) color.
