Default Best way to junk a car?

I need to dispose of my old 2008 Mazda3 that I handed down to my sister and subsequently was driven into the ground. Engine is good I think but frame is completely rusted out. It’s so rusted out that I was literally punching holes in the frame when I swapped the winter wheels off last month.

What’s the best way to maximize value out of it, either with a tax receipt or selling it as-is for parts, or maybe some other method?

Post on Kijiji for $1350, get negotiated down to $650, and you'll both think you won.

If the engine is still good, someone from the Ne will still buy it and drive it till the wheels fall off.

My sister had an old 2003 mazdaspeed protege a couple years ago with a rusted out frame. Engine was low mileage, interior was pretty much brand new, even the rims were still in great condition. Pick n pull offered a couple hundred. I think she didn't have too much difficulty getting a couple grand off Kijiji even though the ad wasn't hiding anything about the condition of the frame and it's drivability.

My brother drives a tow truck, takes in scrap like this all the time, he'd probably give you a couple hundred bucks, hassle free.

    PM me if interested

My parents have a 2004 RX330 that is really solid and running strong, except one or more of the air suspensions crapped out and so the ride is really bouncy, plus quite a of cosmetic damages (dings, bumper cracks, etc..) Otherwise the tires are salvageable (essentially brand new) and engine running strong. They bought a new car so just want to get rid of it. I was going to list on Kijji for $1500 but it doesn't have a license plate / insurance anymore.

What would you guys do ? Just post it as-is with no license plate for $1500 and see if anyone would take it, or is there a way to put an old plate on + insurance so people can see everything is mechanically fine beside the suspensions?

    As-is, Where-is, no test drives, $1500. It'll sell.

That would definitely sell for $1500, if my garage wasn’t full I’d pick that up and delete the air suspension and drive it for another 10 years.

List it on Kijiji and for the right price it’ll be gone same day. I had an old car that still drove, but wasn’t in the best of shape that I didn’t know what to do with. I listed it on Kijiji for $500 with a very honest ad and it was gone in 30 min to the first person that messaged me. Guy was thrilled to have it and I was thrilled to let it go.

Great! I'll go take some pics this weekend and list on Kijiji.

If any beyonder is interested PM me. I think last year they just gave the car to the shop to do whatever service/maintenance is required and it ended up being ~$3K worth of maintenance work, including new gasket and what not, so I know the car is mechanically in good shape.

Kidney foundation, kijji or facebook. I got a lot of emails from Facebook when I sold my old CRV.
But really the amount of weirdos that come out wanting old cars is rather disturbing I must say.

List it at $2k or not less than $1700 and you will be surprised how people will pay you $1k. I could have got more for mine. Just hold firm and be patient, some will take it.

If it's drivable, gotta sell it.
If someone starts verbally tearing it apart.
Tell them how easy it is to part it out and you'd be well over $3000 with just selling motor, wheels, brakes and light assemblies.
Then let him know this is a steal of a deal.
