Bills in BC are far more cheaper because actual usage is low and you don't pay $150 in "fees"
3 bedroom condo, 1000 sq ft here...management company estimates about $30 for electric/hot water, we'll see when my first bill comes, the bills are so low, it's billed bi-monthly. Keep in mind we have AC, so lots of electric use these past 2 months going to pay for that.

Well they don't really have to turn on the heat a lot.
Haha exactly this, I actually grew up here and I have NEVER experienced it being so cold that you can actually feel the cold if you get close to the wall INSIDE a home like you do in a Calgary winter.

And just to clarify, I am not mocking people who live in Calgary in any way. There's pros and cons of both places, I would just say it's "different" and whichever is better depends on your personal situations. If we had kids I would NOT want to raise them here, way too much trouble for them to get into and of course, way too expensive.

Echoes what I've read in the Canadian crypto mining forums -- Alberta is a fucking ripoff for power.

About 10% more than BC by my calculations. I use 2000kwh per month and average about $0.18 per after fees. Its less when i use less because there are surcharges for excessive use.

Woah...I'm surprised no delivery charges or admin fees ( I wouldn't include the setup fee as admin as there is a reoccurring admin fee each month on my ENMAX bill).

LOL Calgary and Edmonton are like the only places in the universe where those are allowed.

In place places utility admin fees are illegal - as in there's an actual law forbidding them.

Fraser Valley definitely has greener pastures 6 months of the year. In the literal sense.

I'm on the 3c plan with Atco for another couple of months and with fees my 1133 kWh last bill was 0.122. Not that far off the .0939 that AndyL is paying in BC.

Of course when my nice plan expires i'll be at 6c so then it will be .152 including fees.

I get kicked in the nuts on power after 1650kwh per month which is why mine averages out high. You'll see AndyL will pay more after 350kwh. The rates are actually competitive if you really boil it down. In BC its just baked into the price.

Sorry? How are they competitive? 30$/month in bc vs 150+/month in alberta?

I don't call that competitive - that's 5x more expensive for my use.
