I'm starting to feel bad about the sarcastic trolling thread title. But I feel really good that I have no kids in daycare. That is great.

Our daycare applies it automatically, no questions about household income.

My wife was working PT just to get mat leave hours up for next impending kid, the subsidy helped out a bit forsure but i wouldnt call it a game changer

Just saw this after I made my post. Same for us. Minus the trackhawk.
There are two parts to it, the Operating Grant that all licensed day cares received which reduced rates for everyone. This is what you and 90_shelby are seeing.

And the other part is the Subsidy that is income tested and you have to apply for which is paid to the daycare and further reduces rates after approval. Nothing is paid back to the parents directly.

It can result in huge savings for an average family. For example a family with one kid and $130k income was $1100 a month and now down to $364 with both operating grant and additional subsidy. If household was > $180k then it would be $590 per kid (operating grant only)

Ah, I see the problem here. You're all a bunch of students.

The reduced daycare/preschool fee been great, but I guess the fine prints also limit how much tuition the school can raise each year? To get around this, our pre-school just introduced a "supply fee" of $600/semester...

I was going to say, I'm pretty sure our preschool just raised their fees by an amount coincidentally equal to the grants

I don't think its a bad thing. Kids across all of humanities history have been piled into big groups and looked after by a few people. We do a few days at daycare, a day with grandma, and a few days the wife stays home and spends the day with the kid.

Really balances out to what the wife wants in my opinion.

I do find it a slight bit strange when women have kids and WANT to send them 5 days a week to daycare as soon as a year is up, or even so they can get back to work. But I understand for some peoples jobs a few days a week isnt an option so it's an all or nothing thing unfortunately.

But like I said to each their own, have to find what works for you.
If you're a professional and have people relying on you wouldn't you want to get back to it? Wouldn't you think less of a "part timer"?

Relying on the government as a way to afford your kids is the real damage.

Also interesting how guys view stay at home vs professional women.

I've never been attracted to the type of women who want to be a homemaker. The "I want a provider to provide for me" type of woman doesn't turn my crank.

Also all the dudes I know with stay at home wives now resent their wives once their kids are older and stay at home momery looks more like leisure time

If my life was so wrapped up in other people relying on me, I likely wouldn't create another life that relied on me, just so I could abandon it for 40 hours a week. That's a really weird paradox. But that's a logical perspective, and I suppose women aren't exactly known for being logical.

I don’t understand judging people who want their lives to be defined about more than their spawn.

    You are.

And if you don’t want people to interpret your words that way, then I highly suggest working on your phrasing.

I'd suggest reading posts in order to understand their context.

My phrasing is rather irrelevant if you're going to "read between the lines" to form whatever outlook you want anyway.

You are a bad writer. Maybe join an interpretive dance forum instead of a text based one brah.
