    Default Hagerty Insurance

What does everyone think of Hagerty?

Switching or trying to. It's been a week and I've hassled them multiple times to take my money. An adjuster has yet to call me and I'm starting to have second thoughts since it's taking so long to actually sign up and pay them.
What is it going to look like if I actually have a claim?
Anyone else have better experience with Hagerty?
    Thanks.

My best friend owns 5 cars and insured a couple with Hagerty including our GBC Ramcharger and GBC Crown Vic. Super cheap rates BUT tons of limitations on how you can use your vehicles. I was looking to move at least one car to them last year but I too had hassles from the get go and gave up.

Yes and you'll be approved but need to send photos and I'm waiting and waiting for an underwriter to review and call me?! They said they've pulled my abstract and no issues.

Who's a good competitor to Hagerty?
    Modified car 25+ yrs old.

I have 2 cars on Hagerty insurance. My broker handled it all for me.

One thing to keep in mind with Hagerty is their collector car coverage has a no track use clause. Meaning you can't take your car anywhere near a track. No lapping sessions, street legals, etc. Last I heard...

So then what is everyone going with?
I don't think regular insurance companies are the best deal.
Willing to have car appraised if necessary.

Been using hagerty for probably 5+ years. Happy with the rates, never had to make a claim, so I can't comment on that. I do pay the extra $50 a year in event the car gets wrecked, you get your insured value + keep the car without having to buy it back.

I always just assumed no typical insurance company insured track use or at the very least it's a very expensive ad on

You can buy specific track coverage at a pretty pricey cost. Your standard insurance company won’t cover any sort of timed or untimed competitive use.

I was thinking about Hagerty but @Masked Bandit said it wasn't worth it. I'm paying 97 a year for my 63. Yes it has limitations, but its only a Sunday ice cream getter.

Care to explain why? I have 2 cars insured with them.

TD was/is cheaper but only if you cancel their main insurance for the winter months. That was not an option when I was checking with Hagerty.

The main players in the track coverage space (Stoneridge and Mclean Hallmark) have both stopped offering individual track day coverage. We're pretty much SOL with it comes with track coverage.

No, it's worse than that. Apparently Hagerty can drop your policy completely if they find out you track your car, regardless of whether you're trying to claim anything or not. I don't understand why other than either they suspect people will try to falsify a claim (crash on a track, then tow car to a road somewhere and claim accident happened there?), or it affects their risk algorithms somehow.

I never looked into it, just assumed 0 coverage while I was racing last year.

Not a concern of mine currently, something to potentially look into for next year though.

Well I guess that’s incentive for me to keep driving a shitbox.

Yes but on a heavily modified car, TD or any other won't cover those mods and maybe you get slightly better than black book.
    On a 25+ yr old car that's what... $1000??
Plus those companies want an inspection done stating its not been modified.

Intact has collector car insurance for cars over 20years old. I've been using them on my NSX. Great rates also, broker did it all for me.

Intact sucks, you have to have your other vehicles with them to qualify for it
