Default How to remove tree sap from vehicle paint?

Looking to remove the red poplar bud sap.

    It's like super glue.

    Any product recommendations?

    Don't use a magic eraser.

You realize you are talking to the guy who made his own furniture out of salad bowls right?

Get yourself some plastic razor blades from Amazon to get the bulk of it off, and rub with some goo-gone bug & sap remover or isopropyl alcohol on a microfiber or bug sponge. Break the top layer of the sap with the plastic razor blade before you hit it with a chemical. It'll probably take some elbow grease. Failing that, try methyl hydrate (methanol) - it's safe, just don't let it linger on the paint for a super long time. That usually does it. Switch to a clean portion of the cloth/sponge frequently so it doesn't smear or streak the sap.

Any residues left should go away with a clay bar or quick polish.

    Other things to try:

    - Superclean
    - full strength APC
    - Stoner Tarminator

Don't leave anything on your paint for too long and give it a good clean when you're done before applying a protectant. A quick spray ceramic/graphene coating is a low-effort thing you can do that will make removing sap a breeze in the future.

Methyl hydrate takes it right off and wont damage the paint. Clay bar works too.

Methyl hydrate is the way to go for tree sap.

    Methyl hydrate definitely!

Or a small can of gas line antifreeze is the same thing.
