Does anyone have any input on adding an aftermarket reversing camera in to a vehicle? I see there are 2 main types, a double din stereo replacement and a rearview mirror type.
Anyone have any experience with these?

Installed this on two cars. It's not difficult to install. You won't get trajectory and the lines won't mean anything... you just need to learn what they mean to yourself based on your installation.
Because this is also meant to be a dashcam, you prob don't want to point it all the way down to see your bumper.
Also installation on a sedan type trunk was much easier than wiring through to a hatchback door.
I have a similar one to jwslam's. Super easy to install if you have even a tiny bit of wiring experience. Have had it in my truck for two years and still working great. I also have second camera on the back of the trailer so when I hitch-up, I swap cameras over and can see behind my trailer while I'm towing.

How is it in the winter?
Not sure about vehicle type, we're looking at all things SUV right now for the wife
No issues, just have to wipe the rear camera off once in awhile as it doesn't get protection like an OEM usually has.

I have one of these, if you're at all interested. I put it on my trailer but I stopped using it because my trailer is so small, it's not really necessary.

Install is pretty easy cause the monitor is wireless, just mount the camera with double sided tape and clamp two wires.
I really liked the Alpine one I installed in my jeep.

I bought one of these off of Amazon for my ‘04 truck, I think I paid around $120 for it during a sale. https://www.toguard.cc/products/togu...-backup-camera
Installation was quick and easy if you’ve done a dash cam before. Had it for about 6months now and it’s worked perfectly.
I don’t recall having any issues except wiping the salt off of the rear camera.
When we installed on my buddy's 2010 Matrix we put the cam in the top of the hatchback inside. So it gets not-great FOV but the rear window wiper does most of the heavy lifting for visibility. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
