I've seen a few wood-floor looking garages, and I love the appearence. I worry about the durability, so this coating should help.
Also, epoxy quotes have been $6-8k. I can do the LVP route with the coating for ~$2500.
I'm really liking how this is coming together. That tin on the walls looks great and think the floor will look fantastic. Hope it holds up though.

For the ceiling winch, I'm going to ditch the I-beam plan to get a 20' section of this Unistrut. I'll mount 2 of these trolleys to it, for a 1200lb load rating.

I might do this for getting stuff in and out of my storage area. After the wife allows me to spend more money, that is

Small update. My garage doors arrived after months. They're doing the high lift install now, then they'll finish mounting the metal siding on the interior garage walls. The house stucco will be painted in the spring btw.
I'll be getting some pallet racking soon to start to get my crap up off the ground and room for the cars plus the lift I need to buy.

I'll try to get the LVP floor done at the same time, but I may have to go back and do it once I get some of the items in my garage to the dump/sold.

Anyway, I like em. They let in lots of light.

Doors look amazing. Can you post or send me a pic of what the top seal peice looks like/is attached. The top seal has ripped on my door already. The installer said it was really tight whe he installed it and assumed this would happen. Said it's common on high lift set ups. Not sure what he is going g to do to fix it.

I really like those doors as well. Nice garage doors are always such a nice touch.

Likely on the outside of the jamb for residential, usually you can 'upgrade' to top flap

That way it moves with the door and the existing top stays in place to make the opening look finished.

The real secret is to adjust the lower splice and breakaway angle so that it's not as much of an issue.

Lift was installed today. It's extra tall, 6.5ft of room under, but I need to see how high I can get it without touching the ceiling.
And I got 75% of the lights up. It's 1000W, or 100,000 lumens. $200 haha. I may double it and put some lights on the walls between the garage doors. I'm controlling the lights with some remote outlet switches.
There's still more siding to go on the walls, to the left, as shown.

I'm still hunting for pallet racking to clean up the pile of crap in the garage. Some of what's shown is furniture I need to sell for cheap to offload.
Most of the pallet rack stuff for sale is 36 or 48 inches deep. That's too deep, as I don't have the garage depth for that. I need some 24" 30" or 32" deep pallet racking, to run 30ft along the back wall. I also want the rack rails to be 10ft long, to align with the 10' wide parking stalls. Ping me if you find any.

Gawd what a mess of crap

    Made some progress.

Picked up my shelving from Uncle Weiners. Unfortunately it was not grey, but terrible blue and orange. I knew this was a possibility, because Alibaba, but I really didn't want to paint over orange powercoating.

    But I did......it took 7 hours.

The damn paint, dried, is terribly soft and scratches (orange) at the slightest touch of anything hard. I picked up some adhesive vinyl on rolls at walmart today, but it's only slightly tougher.

Spent all day getting my crap off the floor, out of boxes, and onto the new shelves.

I have a pallet rack set going where the blue mark up is. 10ft high, 8ft wide. A butcher block work bench will go under the rack.

The marked up in blue on the photos is being sold/removed.

    Next is:
    - The rest of the wall paneling is going up next week.
    - I have 1 more 16t strip of LED lights to go up.
    - The white metal wall panels are the perfect width to act as 2 door on each wall shelf 1/4. Basically, there'll a wall of doors across the shelving, mounted by hinges, matching the walls.
    - Remove everything from the 'roof' of the shelving to clean it up.
    - Plumb in sink, mount towel and soap dispenser.

It's not shown, but there's ~8ft of wall space to the right of the shelving unit. I'll setup a bunch of wall hooks, etc for storing stuff, maybe rakes, shovels, blower, etc.

I got the racking painted and setup to the right of the man door.

    It's 8ft wide.
    28" deep.
    10ft tall.

I used 2 pieces of 4ftx8ft x 0.75" thick drywall, melamine board as the workbench.

I cut and slapped some peal and stick LVP on top of that.

Added an 8ft 5k LED. The shelf is cut up 2x6's.

I ordered enough metal peg board to cover the entire 8ft above the workbench, along with a bunch of baskets, accessories. https://www.amazon.ca/gp/product/B00...?ie=UTF8&psc=1
I also ordered a new power bar, and cable management tray to hide the wire for the various battery chargers.

    You find the 30x20 cramped?

Currently in a 28x19 that feels very cramped to me. I’m debating if it’s worth finishing or if I should just tear it down and rebuild ( if I can get a size/dimensions I want appropriately approved).

Like. My 16.5 foot long SUV is a tight squeeze once you accommodate some leeway for the door hardware etc.

There are some other reasons I would build into the plan as well ( sink it 1-2 feet deeper in grade as it’s a significant slope from alley grade into the garage which is a pain with RWD car on gravel ).

Also need to get the alley paved.

I am just kindof shocked you can get trucks in there on a lift and still have room behind them for storage?

Those are some pretty short trucks...

Knock it down if you can and have the ability, i miss my old garage, having the extra depth is so fucking amazing.

That said, i think Ekliptix is doing a deadly job on his garage and making it work/nice.

if you had to make a reasonable decision as to depth, what would you say is ideal? i may be looking to build a shop in my back yard soon, i think the restriction is 1000sqft in this area... my lot is 50ft wide, so i am trying to decide what a good depth would be...

    24'x41? or 26x38?

My truck is almost 20ft long, so thinking maybe 24' deep, probably have 2 doors and an offset work area on one side and then put some 4' pallet racking across the front, except maybe in front of one of the bays, so i can get the truck in there and still walk around it.

At may last house, I had a 30ft deep x 50ft wide garage (barn). The 30ft depth was amazing for a full sized truck.
With that said, I think you'd be happy with 25ft deep and 40ft wide, to keep it at 1,000sqft.
