If you're giving it an 8/10 then it's a good movie at its core by definition.
No because I'm not so sure this will transfer as well to home viewings. A good movie at its core does not need to rely on special effects and visuals to wow the audience or Avatar would be considered a masterpiece. I gave it an 8/10 based on the cinematic experience and that's not a bad thing as it's movies like this that get me off my couch and into the theater.

It IS a cinematic experience. It’s not a book.

Solution is have a better home theatre lol

IMAX filmed material is incredibly sharp on 4K screens. Even sharper than what you see in theatres after further processing for home release. The various IMAX scenes in MI:6 on the home version really showcases what a good Hollywood IMAX to 4K transfer can look like at home. Then there's the HDR highlights that theatres can't reproduce. The only thing that theaters have over a solid HT is screen size today. Atmos has made bringing the theater audio experience home very well.

I doubled up my sub power in my home theater this week. After 2 mins testing it, everyone ran down to tell me to turn it down. It's officially Top Gun home release ready haha.

Imax enhanced at home is pretty excellent.

Disney plus has it, not sure if other providers.

It depends... IMAX enhanced is just a spec that needs to be met to get the sticker. What's fucked up about it is, IMAX enhanced doesn't need IMAX filmed sources. So you can have 35mm print scanned and blown up to IMAX enhanced aspect ratio and qualify as IMAX enhanced, but look 10x worse than IMAX filmed content, cleaned up and mastered at 4K Dolby vision in 1.9:1 aspect ratio that's technically not IMAX enhanced but exceeds all the specs.

There's nothing stopping non IMAX enhanced content to look as good, if not better than IMAX enhanced content. Example, all of the D+ IMAX enhanced marvel films available doesn't look as sharp as non IMAX enhanced MI:6 scenes shot in IMAX which isn't IMAX enhanced, but those scenes share the 1.9:1 IMAX ratio. Confusing shit.

The godfather is at its core a bad movie because it is not entertaining when viewed on a potato.

I can't tell what's irking you guys more. The fact that I gave it an 8/10 instead of 10/10 or that I said the core story wasn't very good. You want me to say it's a 10/10 with the best story ever? That's just not going to happen as it would be misleading to others and my opinion is not up for debate as I formed it not you. What's the point of a movie discussion if it's going to be a circle jerk repeating the same opinions?

Saw this in Imax last night. I absolutely loved it. 2 hours of flight porn. Loved the throwback/nostalgia factor, cinematography etc etc. I'm interested to see how this will translate to the TV at home, but I'm sure I will watch this several more times over the years.

This is the first and only movie I've ever watched twice in the theaters.
First time in IMAX and second time on DBOX. DBOX was worth it seeing it twice.

I just realized how outdated Chinook was. So much squeaky AVX chairs.

That was just guilty pleasure movie.
