If you listen the beginning of latest episode of the Fly on the Wall podcast (the episode with Jim Downey), David Spade talks about the special. Basically he and all of Norm's friends and people he worked with were performing at his memorial recently and they were invited to watch a private screening of this afterwards. He said the material is really rough cause Norm never got a chance to polish it since all the clubs were closed cause of COVID and that he looks gaunt in it, but the jokes are what you'd expect from him and he was still very sharp.

As I understand it, it wasn't intended as a Netflix special, but an hour's worth of material he was working on and wanted to be released in case he died and Netflix just turned it into a special by adding interviews with other comedians and footage of his memorial.

Actually the whole episode is a good listen if you're a Norm MacDonald fan, cause Jim Downey was a good friend of his and talks about writing for Weekend Update and what led up to both of them getting fired from SNL. There's some Farley stories in there too.
