They generally followed power numbers, plus a letter to indicate the purpose of the car. 570s = 570hp, 720s=720hp.

S was sport, LT was long tail, GT was, uh, GT.

Then their hypercars all had special names.

They seem to be going away from this with the Artura thogh.

In the last couple years my midlife crisis mobile has changed from a 993 C4S to a 23' surf boat for the family. Maybe the 993 will come back into play when they are a bit older - now I just look at new trucks and kid haulers to replace the existing fleet.

Abandoning sensible naming conventions really grinds my gears. Mercedes is now a silly trainwreck, Infiniti has a Q-fetish and I think the last Ferrari with a meaningful model number was the 456.

It doesn't make me as mad as reading a fucking novel of a post about a super track-day opportunity only to find out it's in Onterrible... But it's up there.
