Anyway to pull the MSDS sheet on premium gas? While I don't think they will ever change the formula of v-power to include ethanol, may be things have changed. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote

If I was them I'd have a single msds for all grades. Those are allowed to be reasonably general.

Yep. That's not going to change the amount of gasoline a human can drink and only have a 20% chance of surviving.

Doubt it will have any specific info though.
But yeah writing has been on the wall for a while now. Now that the stickers are on all the pumps looks like it’s going to happen soon if not already. Sucks to lose a high quality non-ethanol product from the market but we can blame the government regulations for that.
Nothing helps cleaning our environment like burning more fuel.

Every Shell station I've checked now has that sticker
I don't understand how Co-Op gas can be ethanol free because for the longest of time everybody on here has said that Co-Op gets its gas from the same refinery as Shell?
I wonder if Costco is still ethanol free or if everybody is blending ethanol in now to meet federal requirements?

No one has said that for well over a decade. They have their own refinery and get away with zero ethanol at our pumps by selling extra ethanol to other companies. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote

Co-Op has a refinery in Regina that can easily supply all of their stations with their fuel. Shell Scotford is just outside of Edmonton.
Paging @Misterman if he has any insight. I believe he used to work in Scotford South Op's and their new Blend Building might be contributing to this if he knows anyone who still works there.
Just a note that Calgary Co-op is under no obligation to purchase fuel from Federated Cooperatives refinery. They do so right now apparently, but they are unrelated companies and Calgary Co-op could choose to choose another fuel source if they wanted.

This is true of all retailers which has always added a significant complexity to the overall situation. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
While I know a lot about this, I still can't say with conviction what the full story is. I know that Scotford does and will sell fuel to others such as direct competitors like Petro Canada as well as companies with no refinery like Canadian Tire, etc. Suncor/P-Can does the same and I'm confident all other refiners do, too.
So... If that's the case, they are either:
A.) selling the commodity of gasoline which simply has to meet whatever minimum ASTM/etc standards and then there would have to be an additional mixing step performed... Somewhere... Either in the truck or at some other location to add the bullshit snake oil that each claims make theirs better. Techron, Infinium, V-pOwAh, Synergy, Ivermectin, etc etc etc.
Or...
B.) Canadian Tire 91 may have a preferential contract with _______ but still could be one week coming from Shell and the next month from Suncor and then Co-Op etc etc. Which would mean that their stickers are accurate most of the time, but not always. And what is their legal responsibility level to adhere to those stickers?
Yeah, even when a specific retail has a preferretial agreement with a specific refiner, I think there is some flexibility in that arrangement. aside from PetroCanada, which seems rigidly stuck to Suncor Refining, which is why those stations run out of fuel before anyone else.

They all will stockpile before a planned shutdown, but sometimes they don't have the capacity and most often it's due to an extended outage that consumers their reserves. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
Anecdotally, I'm sure that P-Can will buy from others because I've seen a station empty for a few days and then back up again even when I know their refinery was still down. Then they went empty again.
My guess is either they are cunts as customers, so their competitors often tell them "no". Or, their competitors are cunts to them and laugh when they run out.
For my DD its upwards of a $20 spread. And you know what they say, $20 is $20.This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
Just noticed that now some stations have switched that sticker on the pump to 'ALL grades of gas may contain up to 10% ethanol'.
Are we sure that Co-Op and Costco are still ethanol free?

Like I said guys, I will buy a sample from all of them this weekend and let you know how they fare. I wouldn’t call some outdated website or faded sticker on a pump exactly trust worthy.
Here is the official word from Shell on this:

Hi James
As per our Shell Technical Team, Shell Retail locations located in Calgary currently sells Shell V-Power NiTRO+ without ethanol. However, this is always subject to change based on emerging Government Regulations.
