Default Shell 91 now has ethanol?

I noticed that every Shell station that still had the 87/89/91 sticker that said 91 was ethanol free now has it covered up (at least the ones in the South that used to have the sticker on the pumps).

Does this mean their 91 has shitty ethanol in it now and there's no more pure 91 gas available?

    Ethanol-Free 94:

    Chevron, dedicated nozzle

Looks like chevron 94 has ethanol now:

    Ethanol-Free 91-gas:

    CO-OP
    Costco
    Shell
    Canadian Tire

Yeah i noticed that too and was curious. Didn't mind the premium price on top of the premium price when it was ethanol free, but if it isn't anymore...then i may as well use Esso where the Premium isn't $0.28/L higher than regular like Shell is. I think Esso premium is only $0.22/L higher than their regular.

Yeah well I wonder how they get the soft flowing caramel inside the Caramilk bar but you don't see me making a god damn thread about it. Slap your wife Baygirl, straighten him out.

This is really lame if true. I've gone to shell exclusively for years now because of their ethanol-free 91 octane gas.

So that website shows Shells in Calgary as well, any idea how often it's updated?

Just wanted to point out the chart on the top of the page that says:
All Canada: Shell V-Power 91, Canadian Tire 91
    Atlantic Canada: Irving Fuels premium
    Western Canada: CO-OP premium
Newfoundland, Nova Scotia, Prince Edward Island: all unleaded gas
    Ontario: Costco 91
    British Columbia: Chevron 94
As of last Wednesday, my local Shell had that sticker uncovered. If it's true, I guess I'm going to either Co-Op or Costco now. No point in paying the Shell tax for no reason.

Not really on topic, but the shell in Rimbey is always the cheapest fuel in that town. I only buy low-grade, but it's like 2c cheaper than fasgas or esso. Weird.

This sucks if true. I'll probably be using co-op from now on, I guess. I can't be bothered to line up for 25 min to get gas with all the lemmings that buy from Costco.

Coop is a good move, and now that the north hill gas bar is rennovated and expanded, a nice option for me.

Had been using co-op for close to a decade now. Thanks mostly to Shell keep closing stations around me where it's convenient.

Also wanted to share that I reached out to Co-Op in August and was told that all grades are premium free:
    Hi,

Thank you for reaching out. All of the fuel we sell is ethanol free.
    Kindly,

I can refute that, and confirm Calgary Coop does have premium fuel.

Medicine Hat Coop has ethanol though, which kind of surprised me.

Just a note that "Calgary Co-op" is not the same company as the "Federated Cooperatives" who run most of the co-op outlets outside of Calgary.

I bought a cheap graduated cylinder for testing as its extremely easy to check ethanol levels contained in gasoline using a little bit of water. I will report back on the premium fuel in the Cochrane area. Shell, Esso, Fasgas, CO-OP, PetroCan, Centex maybe too but they buy from anyone.

    Shell website still says

Shell V-Power Nitro+ premium gasoline contains 0% Ethanol.
    https://www.shell.ca/en_ca/motorists...gasolines.html

I’ll check my station if that sticker is still there

    Endless debate on this...
The link from zipdoa in the second post looks as scholarly as "Bob is the Oil Guy".

I don't know the answer. I assume and hope Shell is still zero ethanol in our market.

Lifehack: the gas stations open 1h before/after the store hours open/close.

Not sure how this Ontario ethanol directive will impact some refineries and products out there. Shell put 10% ethanol in bronze to keep premium ethanol free to satisfy the federal 5% mandate. 15%? So Shell is pumping out Bronze gas at 30% ethanol?

Looks like an old page. I mentioned it to someone I know there, will probably be updated or taken down

Alternative life hack: pay an extra $3/tank and not drive all the way to Costco for fuel.
