I'm noticing this as well on Costco 91, same driving habits filled up at Esso as I had a gift card and It's about a solid 1.0L/100 kms worse economy on Costco fuel. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
I know Petro has ethanol but since it is 94 I was wondering about trying it in my tuned GTI. Anyone have experience with it recently?
Bonus points since a Macs / Petro is at the exit to my community.
Cos...
Shell on mcknight in that little aviation place area with the mcdonalds starbucks etc has 94 octane.
Not sure if it been posted in here.
Went to fill my MDX up and scoffed at the price and threw 87 in and told my car to be happy to get any fuel at all
I use Petro 94 in my car, it calls for 93 but it seems to be very happy with 91. Ever since shell stopped being reliably ethanol free I haven’t seen the point in going there.

I run Petro 94 in all my cars. It's the closest station to me as well. Would rather have the octane than worry about a meager mileage difference from non ethanol gasoline. Smiles per gallon.
Beddington co op appears to be ethanol free on premium:

I believe all shells in Calgary would have 87, 91, and 93 nowThis quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
Mileage difference is usually a direct correlation to power difference, hence affecting smiles per gallon. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote

Yeah if I didn't drive like a retard I'd save WAY more on gas than switching to ethanol free gas lolThis quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
But I like how my cars sound at WOT
Sentry right now:
Yeah with my car never going over 50% throttle or rpms, and it being cold out.. I have about 0 concerns tossing 87 in a honda 3.7L that asks for premium. Get real honda!!This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
This x6, I’ve run 94 in all of my vehicles since I owned my Volvo C30. Seat of the pants improvement with the Volvos running 94. No idea if it makes a difference with everything else but yolo! This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
I like neat cars.
yes, most co-ops (not the one on macleod trail for some reason)This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
spend a few bucks and buy an ethanol tester for peace of mind if it's important to you (it is to me ... i check my co-op every quarter when i fill up to make sure they arn't lying)

Sorry guys. Co-Op is done as of Nov 1stThis quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
https://www.calgarycoop.com/fuel/#:~...%25%20ethanol*.Effective November 1, 2022, all grades of gasoline will contain up to 10% ethanol*. This change is not our decision, but a response from our fuel suppliers and the rest of the industry to comply with the Government of Canada’s Clean Fuel Standard regulations. Other Co-op gas stations across the province have already made the switch.
So is that it? Everything has ethanol in it?
Shell "93" seems to be pretty decent so far. Flashed an OTS 93 tune and it's not pulling timing. Mind you it is pretty cold so that certainly helps. Mileage has definitely decreased though.
Yep, can confirm - checked several stations today and they all said 10% ethanol November 1st. Disappointing - fuck the federal government. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
Only alternative now is to use Stabil when filing up ... I've been reading/watching videos on it where people test it for a long duration (6-12 months) and it does appear to work. I'm happy to dump money on cases of stabilizer if it means my carbs don't get fucked up and the fuel doesn't corrode my tank/fuel lines in my cars that I only drive once a month in the summer.
When I checked in the summer every station brand I could think of had 10% ethanol except co-op ... the only one i didn't check was Costco (not waiting in line, lol) but the internet says it has it.
I wonder, if one were willing to pay the premium can one use lead-free aviation gas in a vehicle? It's 100 octane; and there's lead-free formulations ... is there something I'm missing? (other than I probably can't jsut roll up to Springbank airport w/ a bunch of jerry cans)

Yeah looks like I’m putting Stabil in my car for winter. Is Chevron 94 not E free anymore? This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
not sure, never tested it - my understanding was Chevron 94 is like 89 at best ... i.e., crap gas. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
