    Thanks for this.

Quick! Let's all start filling up garbage cans with V-pOwAh before the Liberals take it away!!!
I have suspicion that when it goes 93, Ethanol comes in. I found this under V-Power brand.

They already do this in the US. So they may force Sarnia to pump out this one to comply with Ontario rule. Hopefully Scotford doesn't follow.

I thought the whole ethanol deal is basically a farmer subsidy. The Liberals wants you to drive EVs.

Here is the official word from Shell on this:

    Hi James

As per our Shell Technical Team, Shell Retail locations located in Calgary currently sells Shell V-Power NiTRO+ without ethanol. However, this is always subject to change based on emerging Government Regulations.

    Regards,

    John
    Customer Operations Specialist
    Shell Canada
Ask John then why locations are covering now adding stickers to pumps saying ~all~ grades may contain ethanol. If 91 didn't then why add the sticker since it already said 87 and 89 could contain it.

John already said it. And the biggest consumer in Ontario is pushing for 10% as of last year and 15% by 2030. Having a feeling that may change all V-Power in Canada. MSDS sheet I pulled on 93 seems to points to that it may be coming/here.

In this case you need to read between the lines. New stickers = preparation for something upcoming. It’s not in place now (at least in Calgary) but it will happen soon hence the new stickers. They aren’t going to make a public announcement or advertise it as it’s not a positive thing. If they update the website and have the stickers that covers their asses from people claiming false advertising

Which again leads me to question if there is any binding anything regarding these bullshit stickers. My guess is the only binding sticker on a fuel pump is the volume verification one applied by the government.

I called 2 Shell stations and both said their 91 now has ethanol in it, so I think it's here.

I called 2 Co-Op stations and both said their 91 has no ethanol in it

I'm curious what's Darrel's results will show - I also bought an ethanol tester because my carb'd big blocks are running so nicely I don't want to store them for the winter and find issues all of a sudden =(

Damn, I've pretty much exclusively fueled up with Shell 91 v-power for years.

    I spoke w/ Shell's general contact.

They told me 91 is still ethanol free except in BC and Manitoba.

But then I asked why stations are now putting up stickers on their pumps in Alberta and Alberta retail owners are saying all grades contain ethanol and they had no answer and havn't gotten back.

Sounds like the right hand doesn't know what the left is dong there.

I ordered an ethanol tester to see for myself.

edit: the Shell in Okotoks doesn't have the sticker on the pumps (although there is for biodiesel) and said they're still ethanol-free 91 .... I saved some to test with my ethanol tester ... I am determined to see whose telling the truth

Got my tester in, mixed up some Husky 91. (all I have in the garage). Husky 94 was discontinued out here some time ago and I always had wide tuning issues with it from one fill up to the next. Anyways, I’m getting maybe 1% ethanol at the most. Just enough to see a few droplets but not enough to actually measure. (It just filled in the water’s meniscus. )

Have been pumping 4 litres into my truck to clear the hose, then 1/2 litre into a cleaned small jerry can. I haven’t seen a single label on any pump so far in regards to ethanol content. Testing with a little Briggs & Stratton glass vial.

    Update:

    Shell 91 = 0% ethanol content ($1.56/L)
    Co-op 87 and 91 = 0%
    Esso 91 = 0%
    Husky 91 = 1%
    Petro-Can 91 = 2% ($1.56/L)
    Petro-Can 94 = 10% ($1.64/L)

I plan to, but Cochrane only has a co-op cardlock, no premium and not sure where their 87 comes from. Next time I’m in the city I will grab some.

My listed price was from the downtown Shell in Cochrane this afternoon. Exact same price as co-op premium tonight in Mahogany.

    Added Co-op to the list.

With every blend and additive available in Western Canada cocktailed inside my truck, I'm positive it's making 100 hp more idling in my garage and rolling through the playground zone out front.

Also wanted to share that I reached out to Co-Op in August and was told that all grades are premium free:
Wait all grades are ethanol free? Shit I might have to change from shell after a decade of religious shopping.
