Received an email that Calgary co-op is starting to move away from using the Federated Co-op refinery in Regina. This means no more ethanol free 87 octane gasoline. McLean Tr, Dalhousie, High River in a week and other sites to follow.
So no reason to go to Coop anymore.

Check earlier in his posts. I believe he has been testing a bunch of samples and had determined that lots at co-op was ethanol free...This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote

All Calgary Co-op gasoline grades are currently ethanol free. Our fleet over the years has shown around a 10% improved fuel economy with Co-op 87 vs other brand’s 87. The gas station employees have always claimed to sell ethanol free 87 and I verified this last year, hence the better mileage. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
Ah thanks for clarifying. I just presumed the 87 had ethanol in it ever since the stickers went on the pump. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
They put the stickers on early, because it's actually hard to know far enough ahead. And to allow then flexibility in case they needed to source elsewhere.

Shell was also like this in certain markets (Calgary and Victoria for sure). Don’t think it’s the case any more though. I’m too cheap to buy a tester for $30 to verify. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
Stickers apparently been there since January. Found this random pic I took when gassing up the minivan January 31st.

Good thing we're all saving the environment by using 10% more fuel.

Do any of the smart people on here know:
Ethanol has less energy per L than Gasoline, hence worse fuel economy, but does it produce the same or more/less CO2? Just curious.
I did a bunch of reading last year when I was testing the alcohol contents. Even with the slightly higher fuel use, studies show slightly less co2 emissions. I suppose there has to be some logic behind burning our food instead of feeding the hungry. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
