Interesting that no one here is talking about "peak China"... sounds probable to me but then again who the hell knows.

I think it's funny that a country that is so dumb is considered to be the next big thing.

China is basically a big version of Venezuela, as far as I can tell. But instead of oil, they have slave labour.

If you look at the USA through the 80,000 foot level, it almost looks like the USA planned its own downfall - intentionally. Sometimes I wonder.

I mean how in the world can you spend 1.7 Trillion on a stealth fighter jet, when supposedly you already have a half trillion program for a slower but bigger - stealth bomber? Is the next thing the USA going to be spending money on $3 trillion for a stealth missile? Does it need to be stealthy? What nation do you intend to assassins creed from the air with pokey daggers for it to be worth that type of investment?

China just doing what the USA does, if you can't win on fair ground - just make sure the other guy does not get to compete? Hollow victory or just prudent planning?

They are pretty good at suppressing education the minute the factories complains nobody wants to work them. Took Republican decades and still barely got any workforce out of it.

    1M voted, down ~30%.

But we all know this just like Putin winning 'election' by 98%.

Pro-Beijing candidates have claimed a victory in Hong Kong's Legislative Council (LegCo) election, as the city saw its lowest-ever voter turnout.
It was the first LegCo election since China made sweeping and controversial changes to the city's electoral system.
Officials argue the changes were needed to ensure stability, but critics say they weakened democracy.
On Monday, Beijing also unveiled a statement outlining "democracy with Hong Kong characteristics".
In a white paper released hours after election results were announced, China said Hong Kong was now entering a new stage of "restored order" as a result of these Beijing-introduced changes.[/b]

One of my guys had to travel back to see his dad one last time after missing his mom's passing while Dad's on death bed. In Japan, you don't get to pick where you quarantine and you don't have to pay. In HK, you get to pick where you quarantine but you have to pay. In China they just pick the worst of both systems, you don't get to pick and you pay.

Lucky he got there before all these Omicron BS. But looking at the news outlet, they keep insisting of 0 cases and how fast Omicron spread there is creating even more chaos than usual.

Being able to pick doesn’t sound very communist so that makes sense.

China Covid restrictions just sounds like another day in China to me.
