If you take one man one vote, China outvotes Hong Kong everytime.

Its like everyone in Alberta *could* vote to leave, but that still doesn't mean as much if the rest of Canada says stay. Especially if Alberta leaves Canada to join China (even further left than majority NDP, which will likely happen again in the future)

A police officer was quoted as saying, "If you want to express your opinion, the government will allow you to express it. However, if you have any slogans in the future, you can discuss with us. I am worried that the slogans you write will violate the National Security Law." Wu said he was not worried, "If you want to arrest, arrest. If you want to jail me, jail me"

China now detaining many US citizens. Payback for Canada holding Meng Wanzhou I imagine.

Definitely more US spies trying to get the secret formula of 1/15th horsepower to deliver a 5 pound package 100 miles for three tablespoons of carbon fuel equivalent. US and Germany were always bigger is better, but now that not everyone can burn 2 million pounds of fuel to go 250 miles up - its becoming a survive and thrive technology.

To expand on Hong Kong democracy:

Always felt it was a ruse. Sure you go democratic locally, but you still have to convince 50% of the population to actually vote for independance. USA had heavy British influence for so long (and some say corruption) that allegiance to the idea of independance may take decades, and when it does you may have a solid generation of war as a direct result. Under British rule, Hong Kong did not gain independance - nor did many ask. Under Chinese rule, its safe to assume people just don't care what master they serve.

Never underestimate the democratic right to vote socialist, nazi (like that one guy from Germany that recently got voted in), potato, or rock. Given the choice, if the country is not starving - they tend to just go with the way the wind blows.

Should the USA bomb Taiwan TSMC to prevent China from taking it?

It is a reasonable strategy and with what it going on along the borders of Ukraine, a probable one. I'm not entirely sure that Taiwan is prepared for this type of slash and burn approach - but I am sure they are aware of how far the USA will go.

"Bombs bursting in air" is right in the national anthem.

I can imagine the USA is prepping a reason to bomb TSMC once the USA facility is built.

Probably a false flag attack from China, USA hires some mercs ot pretend to be an invading army - the same story they use for oil. I mean, people still believe man landed on the moon too.

The general population just goes with what the media tells them is the truth. At least more politicians are taking the "Biden tell no lies" approach to what is being discussed, which is refreshing - and I think the right thing to do.

Lets not forget how the USA "defended" Vietnam with napalm at 20,000 feet from McCain 22 times.

    It was Killer Instinct, though.
"The most merciful thing in the world, I think, is the inability of the human mind to correlate all its contents... some day the piecing together of dissociated knowledge will open up such terrifying vistas of reality, and of our frightful position therein, that we shall either go mad from the revelation or flee from the light into the peace and safety of a new Dark Age."

USA would leap at the chance to make Taiwan another US colony.

Puerto Rico one of the later subjugated islands. Philippines being an outlier that actually managed to stand up to the USA in a direct conflict. Japan of course losing badly (two nukes is losing very badly) after winning early (almost winning Hawaii)

Does the USA treat is non-state overseas territories well? No. Not even after decades of forced or willing allegiance.

Alberta is interesting because if seperation ever does happen, the earlier it happens the more likely allegiances will tie to the USA, the later it happens - allegiances may shift to China. 2035? I would say chance of 50/50 just because of the general dickwadery of US foreign non-state colony. You have to be blind to not see how much hazing the US does to any new (less than one century) kid. A Taiwanese scientist coming from an overseas territory would not be eligible to clean the toilets at NASA, make absolutely no mistakes.

Quebec was always going to shift allegiance to France and away from Britain if it ever left.

According to The Week, Qin and Fu are even rumoured to have had a child out of wedlock – a huge no-no for China’s Communist Party.

Senior officials charged with corruption are often also cited for having affairs.

And here I thought MAGA RATS could never be funny.

Does go to prove the effectiveness of governemnt propoganda on some populations even in 2023.

Meanwhile, I'm reading China is on the verge of making their own fancy chip litho thing, and is restricting export of fancy metals the US needs for their chips..

    https://www.scmp.com/news/china/mili...ls-sources-say

Military graft-busters are targeting the force’s current commander, Li Yuchao, and a past and present deputy, Zhang Zhenzhong and Liu Guangbin
Looks like deep trouble within the Rocket Force. This may go all the way to Defense Minister who retired in March.

Back in Apr, US demonstrated it has detail classified info that it shouldn't have on this force. Then deputy commander of Rocket Force got a timely "cerebral haemorrhage" and foreign minister and mistress all got disappeared.

Xi definitely didn't have a good month in June with at least 3 hand picked people by him fell from grace.

A purge is coming means Rocket Force is going to be in disarray/ineffective for months. This goes back as far as everyone in command since 2017. That's a lot of seasoned personnel loss.

They should just get it all over with. Let the globe go one man one vote democracy, and let China annex the USA already.

Also: Canada should vote PEI off the island for a century of pure incompetence.

I'm sure there are kickbacks in defense contractors in US too if it's just corruption.

If rumors are true, they may have leaked a lot of shit to the US directly or indirectly.

Xi will survive. It'll take a huge revolution, something bigger than 1989 to get rid of him.

Although fun watching China slowly losing their shit as Russia is courting North Korea exchanging tech for weapons.

Let's just say China can hide a lot of crap and throw a lot of people in jails to keep country stable.

All banks are state control to a varying degree. They can drag this out way longer than all pundits say.

Worst case, they continue to exist as North Korea.
